Aquis has turned to a horse who has had just one start in Australia to be its representative in The Everest with the Mark Newnham-trained Joyful Fortune will run for the Queensland-based stud farm in the $15 million event.

The announcement comes just over a week after Joyful Fortune announced himself to Australian fans with a dazzling 4-1/4-length win in a benchmark 70 at Flemington on September 18.

That was the six-year-old's first start in Australia following a stint in Hong Kong where he won two of seven starts.

"He ran blistering time in Hong Kong and was ultra-impressive first-up at Flemington with big improvement to come, he handles all track conditions, and we believe he will make his presence felt on the day," Aquis director of sales Jonathan Davies said.

A son of Nicconi  Joyful Fortune is one of three to race from the Tsuimai mare Sneaky Tsu, who counted three city wins among her five wins from 27 starts, and the only winner.

He was a $100,000 buy for Orbis Bloodstock at the Inglis Classic Sale in 2018.

Joyful Fortune's spot in The Everest was confirmed on the same day Jacquinot was announced as Coolmore's runner in the race.

They join Nature Strip, Lost And Running, Mazu, Eduardo, Masked Crusader and Snapdancer as confirmed runners in this year's race.

"In the short period of time I have trained Joyful Fortune he has shown all the qualities of a top-class sprinter and adds an X-factor to the world's most exciting race," Newnham said.
