After heading to WA almost a year ago, Patched has continued to impress, winning 11 races from his 19 starts, with six runner-up placings as consolation.
The six-year-old made his way over from the stables of Alison Alford and hasn't looked back, adding the Group 2 Trotters Cup to his resume back on February 3, an emotional win for Young and his fiancé Sian Hughes after tragically losing their baby boy Brodie just a day earlier.
"He'll go to the Trotters Sprint next Friday, then have a good break with a vision of going to Queensland for the Inters.
"It might be a pipe dream but with everything that has happened this year, we owe it to ourselves to dream a little." Young said.
The $30,000 Gr3 Trotters Sprint will be held at Gloucester Park next Friday, March 24, over the 1730m distance.
The feature is a mobile start, which is the only concern for the connections of Patched.
"He had a few tickets in the bank, so we will excuse him of last week.
"I can't believe he can step away from a stand like that but can't get away from a mobile.
"He's ODM (Out of the draw in mobiles), so he'll draw bad, but so be it."
