Calypso to Reign again in Wylie

David Jolly will again need two sets of eyes when the gates open in Saturday’s W H Wylie Stakes at Morphettville.

Just like last month's Lightning Stakes, Calypso Reign will be trying to overshadow his multiple Group 1 winning stablemate Behemoth in the 1100m feature.

"Calypso goes there fit and in-form,'' Jolly said.

"But dropping back to 1100m is a small concern, you would have liked this to be over six furlongs.

"We had him nominated for the Group 1 (Sir Rupert Clarke) in Melbourne, but the 1400m is a bit of unknown. Back to 1100m on a rain affected track was probably the better option of the two,'' he said.

In contrast Jolly said Behemoth had a few things against him.

"I'd be happy to see him the line strongly,'' Jolly said.

"He's coming in off a slight setback, nothing went right the other day so if he's running on we will know he's back and on the right track.

"He's got a bit against him at 1100m with a big weight on a wet track,'' he said.

There will be three generations of the Jolly family represented in the Wylie.

Dad Peter saddles up Morvada while brother Richard, and his daughter Chantelle, have Kemalpasa also resuming.
