Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Rosehill, Flemington, Eagle Farm, Ascot, and Morphettville.

ROSEHILL: RACE 4 @ 2:05 PM

The Group 3 Magic Night. The well-related STEEL CITY (6) (half to 2xG1 winner September Run) didn't get many favours in the Blue Diamond last time out when well found in the betting. The two seconds prior behind quality campaigners were noteworthy and she should get a cushy run in behind them from the inside alley. Well placed here and sure to be right there at the business end. BLANC DE BLANC (1) has been just running into one or two better but McDonald sticks and looks to play a major role again. TU QUI SANTUZZA (7) was impressive leading all the way on the debut and will have come on since that victory. Can improve enough to feature. REMEDIES (3) strips fitter second-up and is one for the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Steel City to win.

FLEMINGTON: RACE 7 @ 4:20 PM

Terrific Newmarket. PRIVATE EYE (1) heads things up and looks a terrific chance of winning first time out. He was dynamic winning the Gilgai here fresh in the Spring and followed that up with two runs that were every bit as good. He sets a strong standard. You will see few better Newmarket trials than the one I WISH I WIN (3) produced in the Lightning. He ripped home there, his late splits not subtle in pointing to him being all set to produce a big performance at 1200m. IN SECRET (15) has a terrific profile for the Newmarket. Three-year-olds invariably do well here and the Coolmore has been an outstanding guide in modern times. MAZU (2) is too good to be left out of considerations and similarly LOFTY STRIKE (9) is in such form that he demands to at least make the shortlist.
SELECTIONS: Backing Private Eye in a vintage Newmarket.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 3 @ 1:13 PM

SAGACIOUS (3) led and kept going when scoring by more than 2L at Doomben last time, taking his record at the mile to five from seven. Gets the benefit of Angela Jones' claim again. Strong claims to add another victory at this trip. SANTERO (7) is close to a win following back-to-back seconds, last time chasing Sagacious home at Doomben. Meets that rival better at the weights so gets her chance to turn the tables. FAST TALKING (1) worked home solidly for a resuming fourth. Draws better and can progress up in trip. THAT'S JUSTIFIED (5) owns a good third-up record so can do better while RED LIGHT ROXANNE (8) is an each way player.
SELECTIONS: Sagacious to add to a good record at the mile.

ASCOT: RACE 8 @ 5:25 PM

CASINO SEVENTEEN (6) is a dominant favourite today after running through the line late with 60.5 kg when second over 2200m at this track on February 25. Racing in peak form this time in and down sharply in weight. The one they have to beat. NO APOLOGY (3) looks set to peak here fourth up and has placed this trip. Tired late when a most improved second in the LR Detonator Stakes at this track over 1800m on February 25. Looks one of the main contenders. BLACK SHADOW (4) is a grand old stayer who retains his zest for racing. Resumed with an encouraging third in the LR Detonator Stakes 1800m at this track on February 25. Goes well this trip and best figures have him right in this. BLAZING AWAY (8) has found form at his last two runs and won this track and trip. Will race closer from the good gate and can sneak into the minor money.
SELECTIONS: Casino Seventeen to win.

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 8 @ 4:42 PM

LAKE TITICACA (7) showed great tactical speed fresh but ultimately lacked a kick in the run home, fading into fourth. Strips fitter and has performed well second-up. Key jockey switch to Todd Pannell and gets some slight weight relief. Will be in this for a long way. EYES NEVER LIE (3) struggled to make an impression fresh here when finishing midfield. Goes well second-up. Improved run expected. WINE FROM TEARS (10) looks one of the genuine hopes in the race and FOUR WINDS (9) can feature with the right run.
SELECTIONS: Backing Lake Titicaca to win.
