The Melvista Stakes is a Derby lead up and has been won by some really good WA horses in the past – several Derby, Cup and even eastern G1 winners.
Not sure there is that ilk here but thinking Demolish deserves to win one this prep.
Remember back in the Spring he ran well either side of taking on the WA Guineas then spelled. Back this time he's been a long neck away twice in the Piper and Roberts.
Think this is what he needs and should he get some control, look out he doesn't stack them up then roll from before the corner. Make them all chase as it could be his best chance to win this campaign.
The WA Oaks could very well provide a better guide to the WATC Derby.
The top two in the Oaks may have a slight distance doubt over them so happy to think it is between the easy Natasha winner She's Fit and Linden Lady who would have had one race in mind all prep.
She's Fit is by Pride Of Dubai who is making a name for himself with horses not of a sprinting nature as we saw in Sydney.
She was very strong two weeks ago and must go close again. The only hiccup may be if Linden Lady gets a back to follow and has last crack at them.
The obvious is to say She's Fit wins but don't be surprised if the other is right in the finish.
