Best From The West: Ascot – 4th February 2023

We see the Ascot Mile as the feature race this weekend with a bit more value on the card than recent weeks.

An extremely consistent gelding is Westriver Miracle and we reckon he can run a top race over the mile second up.

He made up good ground two weeks back in the obvious lead up race and gets little weight swing.

Back in the Spring, he had form around Buster Bash and that would turn into really high quality references.

Look for CJP to sit just off the back of the speed from the inside gate and any luck around the corner will see him right in the finish.

In the last, Halatorion tries for a third win in four starts and into easier company.

He was successful when leading all the way over 1100m in a RTG 72+ event.

While going up 3kg, that isn't too bad given he's back to a 66 so hopefully he can use gate speed again.

Just consider it is the last race and W Pike is up and that is manna from heaven for punters.

Since being back in Perth, Pike has been flying with winners galore in the last fortnight, including one on this bloke. The price might tighten as a result.
