Best From The West: Ascot – 25th February 2023

Classic lead ups are in full swing now with the Lex Piper and Ascot 1000 Guineas being run.

The latter of those for the fillies sees a value chance with Linden Lady now third up chasing her second win.

She was thought good enough to take on the WA Champion Fillies where she ran third then was asked to have a go at an even harder race a week later.

Running into Amelia's Jewel was a bridge too far so she has spelled and come back with a couple of runs over too short a trip.

This will be at a much better journey for her and she showed at Belmont that she wants to attack the line.

Easy to give her a big hope here at odds.

The Detonator Stakes for the older horses, but over the same distance, sees a few who kick off from breaks over Summer.

One who is hard fit and might catch some on the hop is Bruce Almighty.

He hasn't won since the Old Comrade back in April last year when racing well in these sort of races.

This prep hasn't worked out tremendously well so far but there were good signs in the Ascot Mile when he rattled home just off the placings.

He'll get ridden for luck once again but if he gets it, he'll take some holding out.
