Say from SA: Morphettville Parks – 25th March 2023

Back at Morphettville Parks this weekend in Adelaide with a nine-race card to see us through Saturday.

Hoping to keep the ball rolling in the best bets department, we turn to the services of multiple Group 1 winning rider Zac Spain to have a big day on the Parks surface and fill our pockets.

With a good book of rides, Spain pilots both of our plays for the day's action starting with our best bet in race four, Merry Mac Boy.

The three-year-old gelding has had mixed fortunes so far this preparation but looks to have struck an auspicious assignment on Saturday.

The son of I Am Invincible fell a long neck shy of returning a winner on the Hillside, which resulted in being thrown straight into the deep end next start in the G3 Ive Manfred Stakes where he started 7-1. Unfortunately, he was far from his best on that occasion after drawing wide and was donkey-licked by the talented Jacquinot.

Off the back of another rearward finish on the Hillside when once again solid in the market, he produced an eye-catching finish last start at Moonee Valley in a race where everything that could've gone wrong, did.

Missing the start, Merry Mac boy was forced to travel in a foreign position at the tail of the field where he proceeded to over-race. Squeezed for room when making the tight turn for home, the four-year-old had no right to get involved in the finish but managed to balance up and attack the line, missing the bob for second.

Shouldering a strong record over the track and trip, Spain should be able settle his mount in an ideal spot up from the low draw, before proving to strong for them when they sprint.

Our next best play of the day comes in the last with three-year-old filly Fun With Flags, where Zac Spain again partners.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner made the immediate impression to her racing career when leading pillar to post at Pakenham.

Sure to have taken plenty of benefit from the race experience, Fun With Flags is once again drawn to advantage and with the rail out nine meters from the 1000m to the winning post and six meters the remainder, the Parks dimensions could play right into her favour.

Expect her to bounce straight to the front and not be caught.
