The Godolphin gelding has a duck egg next to his name but that fresh effort was much better than it appears on paper having settled back but chased well to be beaten 1.7L at Listed level.
Brigantine will be fitter for that hitout and he goes up to a distance where he races well so looks suited in this class.
Smart filly Street Gossip will relish the return to the mile in the Pam O'Neill Stakes later on the program.
Mark Newnham's three-year-old scored back-to-back wins over this distance including the Listed Princess Stakes at this course before she stepped up to 1800m for the Gold Coast Bracelet last time and kept chasing to place.
Down in the weights on Saturday she looks nicely placed.
