Strong midweek racing on Thursday from Sandown-Hillside and Warwick Farm and we’ve got a horse to follow from each.

Sandown-Hillside Race 6- Star Patrol

Loved the win of this horse who I thought was a query at 1000m and the market agreed, drifting him quite heavily on the day but class shone through and he put the race away with a huge turn of foot. He took a little bit to wind up but really exploded between the 250m and 100m mark, eased down over the line. Group 1 targets are on the horizon and given his best form is down the straight over 1200m, the Newmarket Handicap with a light weight, with our top WFA sprinters likely to miss the race looks ideal.

Warwick Farm Race 2- Venelope

Anything this filly is doing over these shorter trips now is a bonus given her breeding (Kingman out of a Fastnet Rock mare) suggests she'll get over at least a mile, if not a fair bit further in time. She found the line very nicely on debut from well back over 1200m and relished the rise to 1400m, again sitting back in the field but really lengthening well late to score a comfortable win. She should have plenty of options midweek somewhere over 1600m next time out and should be hard to beat again.
