Sandown Hillside Race 3 – Alma Rise

Really strong debut from this Almanzor filly for the Moody & Coleman yard who looks a stayer of some promise. She debuted over the 1500m and was taken back from a wide gate but relished a strong tempo up front and hit the line very strongly out wide, just missing the winner who had a good run midfield. Her splits home were clearly the race-fastest all the way and she'll relish getting over 2000m and beyond in time. One to keep an eye on perhaps to a race like the SA Fillies Classic.

Warwick Farm Race 6 – Able Willie

This handy sprinter looks to have come back in career best form, covering plenty of ground here after circling the field and running on strongly to score. He's always promised a good level of talent, stakes placed at his second career start behind Mazu but never quite delivered on it. This was only a midweek benchmark 72 but he won it well and we've got him running his best rating in over two years. Should be in for a good preparation.
