Guardiola 'serious' about City's FA Cup tie

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola believes his side have little room for error in the Premier League title race.

The champions could find themselves five points behind leaders Arsenal by their next league game against Newcastle on Saturday, if the Gunners beat Everton on Wednesday.

Arsenal can put further distance between themselves and their three closest pursuers as City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all face midweek FA Cup fifth round ties.

Ahead of City's trip to Championship side Bristol City on Tuesday, Guardiola said: "I have the feeling in the Premier League many things are going to happen.

"Everyone is going to drop points but we cannot drop many if we are going to fight until the end."

Guardiola expects a reasonable test against Nigel Pearson's side, who have not lost since Boxing Day and promised to pick a "serious" team in Bristol.

"Last 12 games, no defeat - that gives me a lot of info. It means they are there.

"My scouts say they are good team, the manager has a lot of experience. He did really well at Leicester and Watford.

"From my experience in this country, in the last six years, when you go (play) away in the FA cup at a Championship team, it is always, always tough. (Playing at) home is a little different.

"The FA Cup is an important competition, really important. It's a serious team that is going to play tomorrow."

Manchester United host West Ham United and Tottenham travel to Sheffield United on Wednesday. On the same night, League Two side Grimsby Town visit Premier League strugglers Southampton.

There are no replays, so ties will be settled on the night, if necessary after extra-time and penalties.

One non-Premier League team is guaranteed to make the quarter-finals, as Championship side Burnley host Fleetwood Town, of League One, on Wednesday.

The remaining ties on Tuesday are: Stoke City v Brighton & Hove Albion, Leicester City v Blackburn Rovers, and the all-Premier League clash between Fulham and Leeds United.

Fulham manager Marco Silva will have star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic fit and available for what he said he expects to be a "proper cup tie" against Leeds.

Mitrovic has not featured for Fulham since February 11 due to a hamstring injury.
