2022 Ruffies &/or Best Bets

Todman

Let's see if there is any interest for 2022

The Railway Stakes

I just read in today, in a Racenet article, that stated Carbine won this race in 1894, as a $1.50 favourite. With such a champion, it seemed a real bold move to travel that far. Does anyone know his method of travel. Surely it was by sea back then.

Ruffies and Best Bets for 2021

For a bit of fun, I will tip my no 1 selection followed by a ruffie

R1 Derulo - Real Fine Wine

R2 Miss In Charge - Illiciate Affairs

R3 Rambeau - Jackson On Time/Mishani Scandal

R4 Ramtastic - Dreamtime Magic

R5 Kiss My Swiss - Invicible Al - note Al will be steaming home off of what may be a ridiculous early pace - big query if there is more rain

R6 Redoute's Image (best bet) - Set Me Up

R7 Rich Devil - Thunder Mania

R8 Wapiti - Kukeracha

R9 Awesome Pluck - Akage/Spectroscope

2020 Best Bets & Ruffies

interest has all but disappeared in the tipping type threads - probably the lack of success in the 2nd half of last year did not help.

I thought I would combine the 2 threads for 2020, and posters could list the tip as either a BB or R(uffie)

MERRY XMAS

Thanks Gary, re your xmas wishes in another thread. That thread is not worthy of xmas greeting responses, so please use this thread - all 6 or 7 that appear to visit this forum at the moment.

Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2020, to all

I was surprised to see that Humidor is only a 7yr old. Reports from his new stable and regular jockey are very good, so I reckon he will star this spring and if he has no issues, next autumn. I am tipping a huge run from him in the Memsie.

A likely successor may already have arrived in Mystic Journey, but Humidor, at his best gets my vote to stay at the top - win the Cox Plate and maybe go on to the MC if sound.

Of the youngsters, it is far too early to judge - Prince Fawaz was unimpressive in his recent track trial - Libertini looks good but is unproven over ground and may be kept to her own age and sex races. Te Akau Shark could emerge a contender and Avilius is not far away. If he improves on his Autumn form, then he will be a big contender.

There is a lot to be excited about over the next 12 weeks

Who follows or watches all the races over the 5 days - I record and replay them early next day, before I see the results - I usually have a few bob each way on my selection in each race - getting best odds can be timely as some betting sites are stingy early
