Today's thoroughbred TAB meetings are held at Ballarat, Tamworth, Terang, Queanbeyan, the Sunshine Coast and Pinjarra.

TERANG: RACE 1 @ 1:00PM:

MUSGRAVE (7) finds a weak maiden fourth up after catching the eye late when sixth over 1600m at Colac two-and-a-half weeks ago. Bred to get this trip and should prove too slick for these. SIDING (6) dropped back sharply in trip when a gritty second over 1608m at Woolamai on February 18. On the quick back up and expected to take a hand in the finish. LORD OF PENNO (2) was back in distance when sixth over 1700m at Warrnambool six days ago. The extra trip suits today and no shock to see him in the placings. CERES MIST (8) drifted well back and failed to finish it off when eighth over 2400m at Bendigo last start. Better placed this trip and can sneak into the placings.

SELECTIONS: Musgrave to win.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 3 @ 1:30PM:

WINSIDE (3) resumes owning a trial win here. He has strong figures and has won 3/3 fresh. Well performed and appeals. TAVISAN (1) led first-out taking out the open on the Gold Coast poly. Wasn't beaten far in Listed grade prior and he may need to find too much to be winning. OVIDIUS (6) seeking the hat-trick off the CL5 win here and is in the mix.

SELECTIONS: Backing Winside.

PINJARRA: RACE 1 @ 1:30PM:

RUPERT'S EMPIRE (5) has gone close to breaking through in both his starts to date and returns today from a decent spell that would have done him the world of good. His recent trial win will have him spot on for a winning effort. FRANTIC WAR (6) did not get the clearest of runs down the stretch last start and was only beaten a nose prior to that effort when fresh up. He will be peaking third up and is the main danger to the top selection. PSYCHIC SESSION (4) won two trials before making a poor debut at Belmont and he was then immediately put aside to mature. He is fresh up without a trial this time and is expected to perform much better. Follow your money. TAKEN ON STRENGTH (9) has been away from the race track for over two years but has been trialling well enough. Any positive market moves should be noted.

SELECTIONS: Rupert's Empire to win.

TAMWORTH: RACE 6 @ 4:05PM:

RUSSIAN STANDARD (11) has good early dash and put had it on full display last time here when making a mess of his rivals in a dominant front-running performance. Has been kept fresh for this but kept the legs ticking over with a strong trial win. Booking of leading rider Aaron Bullock another push for his chances. The one to beat. THE DRAMATIST (2) resumes and has run well fresh without winning. Turned in some bold performances last campaign but lacked consistency. Has trialled up nicely in readiness and is drawn to settle close to the action. Should be getting involved at the business end. Can also make strong cases for RURA PENTHE (10) and TRUMPED UP (6).

SELECTIONS: Backing Russian Standard to win again.

QUEANBEYAN: RACE 6 @ 4:15PM:

DESPOINA (7) made good improvement second-up beaten 2L at Nowra and didn't have much luck after the slow start. She's raced well here and has more to give. The mile suits and she can come over them. BANDOLERO (1) was plain at Dubbo the latest but but just missed there three-back in a CL1 and that reads well. He will position nicely and the winkers are on again. RED REDEMPTION (4) was lipped out here this trip and then went close at Braidwood over a sprint. He will need a good ride pushing forward from the wide barrier. GATCHAN (11) is in a smart Canberra barn and it wouldn't surprise if he improved to make the first-four.

SELECTIONS: Backing Despoina.

BALLARAT: RACE 8 @ 5:35PM:

ZION (2) was far too good for his rivals in this grade and distance range last start when favourite. He's well in after the claim and although he's likely to give them a start from the gate he's the one to beat again if the track is playing evenly. FRANCINE (1) is going for three in a row here. She has the early speed to offset the gate and should be in it for a long way. Back each way. ALPINOVA (14) is ready to win coming off two narrow defeats. Although this is tougher she has plenty in her favour with the in form Blaike McDougall going on and drawn to get the ideal run. Keep safe. TANTO (12) resumed a winner last start when favourite with a good gap to third. She can measure up here with added fitness. VENETIAN LASS (13) first up has ability on her day and warrants plenty of respect on her home track. Include in the multiples.

SELECTIONS: Zion can win again.
