What is a Trifecta?

The trifecta is a popular bet where you attempt to successfully select the first three horses across the finish line. The types of trifecta available to you which are mentioned below have varying costs but allow you to select more runners and therefore have more winning combinations.

STANDARD TRIFECTA: The most basic trifecta wager has a minimum outlay of $1.00 where you must pick first, second and third in correct order.

BOX TRIFECTA: A box trifecta allows you to select three or more runners to run first, second and third in any order. If you box three runners, instead of having one winning combination, you will have six combinations. The trade off is you pay $1.00 per combination so your total outlay will be $6.00.

FLEXI TRIFECTA: If you didn't want to outlay $6.00 but wished to still box three runners, taking a flexi trifecta is an option. If for example, you only wanted to outlay $3.00, you could have a flexi trifecta which would see you receive 50% of the dividend if the wager were successful.

STANDOUT TRIFECTA: Placing a standout trifecta could be a good option if you were confident one of your three runners is definitely going to fill a particular spot, being either first, second or third. It allows you to have more combinations than a standard trifecta however saves you combinations compared to a box trifecta.
