RUFFIES - 2019

Todman
There will always be ruffies saluting - the prob is identifying them well in advance so that they appear in time for forumites to take notice - the big problem is early selections can blow bigtime and probably should be left alone - good luck for 2019

MR6 Miss Rock - $16 & $4.60 - if she puts in, she wins and she generally runs ok at track, but has only ever saluted 1st up - a 6 week break may be the tonic that sees her run well

Was in it for a long way. So close Tod!

Very very good Todman. Never looked like missing a place.

BR8 Fiery Heights 50/1

with the BEST BETS thread going gangbusterlaugh, how about some xmas specials on this thread - not from me of course, as I have lost my RUFFIES mojo

well my comeback was inauspicious - one more attempt - if no placings at least, this will be it for me

Moonee Valley FRI

MR3 Midterm - McEvoy sticking with him is the only reason that I can excuse his last run - $35 & $8.50

MR5 Flying Sardine - drew wide last start and went back a long way - revved up before the turn and went very wide, losing more ground than was beaten by - was finishing on strongly on line - from a better draw, she should be closer and has a decent chance of mixing it with the fave - $91 & $18 currently on offer - I got enhanced $151

MR6 Al Passem & Runson - Runson won the equivalent of this race last year by nearly 5 lengths - $20 & $4.40 - Al Passem has good 2nd up form and if horses are looping the field, then he can be one of them - $91 & &19

MR7 Winter Bride - probably cannot beat Bivouac, but can place - better draw than in Moir, sees her racing closer - she did finish with good sectionals there - $51 & $8

I have been reticent to post ruffies, in recent weeks as my tips have been less than ordinary. After wins with a few ruffies that I did not post, namely Black Heart Bart, and Moonlight Maid, I am keen to give it another go.

MR2 Vassilator - gets blinkers and back in trip - currently at $16 but will shorten if Waging War gets a start in the Toorak

MR3 Lankan Star - my best ruffie of the day - drawn barrier 1 and has the blinkers added. If you do the form on her last start, won by Loving Gaby, I can see her being several lengths better off tomorrow. She beat Loving Gaby home in the Blue Diamond. In ability, Loving Gaby wins this race easily, but pace of race and luck in running could see Lankan Star well ahead after entering straight - I took $26 enhanced to $31 and is now in to $23

MR5 Self Sense - he is already in CC field and his prep has been aimed solely at that race. The connections surely must have him fit enough to earn good prizemoney in this race, given the $37500 acceptance cost - $101 & $26 currently on offer - I wasted a few bucks on him in the CC at $401 & $76 but with 51kg and luck, who knows

MR7 Dream Castle - this Godolphin horse by Frankel, has been gelded since finishing down the track in the Queen Anne - his 2018 form was ordinary, but this year he has won a Gp 1, 2 & 3 (all around 1800m) plus a close up finish in another Gr 1. He ran badly in 2 Group ones, and I hoping that as a gelded son of Frankel, he can stretch to 2000m and be competitive here - $13 avail

MR9 Order Again - he has no chance on his last run, but I have seen him improve greatly of of ordinary runs in the past. Last start, he was ridden forward off of an inside draw. He has his regular jock on top, and drops from 60kg to 54kg off of a 13 draw (in to 11 if emergencies don't run). He will get back but can finish fast. He is lightly raced, and has always promised to win a good race - $101 & $26 on offer - I have taken enhanced odds of $201 & $31

No tips yet for other states

forgot my best for the day

Cairns

R7 Follow Suit $34 & $8 - price is way overs

for Saturday

SR1 Niconita $11 & $3.50 - will shorten

SR2 Cogliere $34 & $7.50 - a better run last start

SR4 Desert Path $21 & $4.60 - may need one more run but can win

SR5 Persan - $126 & $26 - fell a few starts back when looming to win - yet to regain confidence but if he does, can figure

SR8 River Racer $41 & $10 - may need it wet but she is fit and in purple patch form

MR6 Camelle $101 & $41 - finished last prep with some strong performances and 1st up this prep, was real good - with maturity now, she may go to this level - a ridiculous price currently

BR5 Another Whiskey $51 & $8 - the fave is probably too good, but could place

BR9 Grande Rosso $18 & $4.80 - forget last run as worked too hard out wide

AR9 Carlingford $17 & $5 - has performed well at this track and a likely drier track will help

MR2 Mr Clarify - $46 & $12

BR7 Nordic Show - $61 & $16

Not on the real rough side but am keen on Exceltara at around 15/1 tomorrow.

a top start for the day - I got enhanced odds of $67 for Jinda - woo hoo

Good work Tod. You could lose the next 60 races and still be in front!

seeing this thread is so popular, and I went so well (NOT) last Saturday, here are a few for today

MR1 Jinda - way out of class but wet track and light weight and fitness may see her there at the end - $31

MR3 Playmaster - an 1 year old who ran ok last start - down in class - goes ok at track and on slow going - $61  & $16

MR6 Rocket Tommy - meets the toppie on better terms than last start where he should have finished closer - if he struck near his best, he would romp in - $27 & $5

MR7 Just Like Mum - would be real keen on her on a drier track - $27 & $5 - her 3 failures on soft are a concern

SR7 Desert Path - I posted him on the Best Bets thread, thinking he would be single figures in the betting by now - $13 & $4 are still great odds - I got $26 & $5.50

SR8 Irukanji - has been gelded and changed stables - he showed huge potential early on but has not delivered since being an early 3 year old - may be better next start, but you won't get the $34 & $7 currently avail, so worth an EW bet - I do like the Baker stable as they have 61% placing stats and are part owners now. the dry track will also suit

SR9 The Promise - @ $19 & $4.20, she is a huge winning chance

BR1 - a big ruffie - Kasita - ran ok here at its 2nd start - seems to have returned in better form and at $61 & $12, is worth a dabble

SR6 Curata Princess - won in this class at this track on a heavy track, 3 starts back but over 2400. There were excuses at her last 2nd up start, but her previous 2 2nd up runs were good and this distance is more suitable - at $81 & $16, she is a good place chance and could jag the win

MR4 Ventura Storm - $20 & $5.10 - have tipped him before - he appears to go ok fresh and has won at the track albeit over 2500.- stable has a better fancied runner, but the claim of 2kgs and good draw may be enough to at least place and possibly win in a race short on quality

SR3 Sayed - now in the Dale stable and is around 20/1 - not a strong race form wise, and while the fave may win, Sayed's last 2 trial performances were good and the small field and heavy track can see him figure - either each way or exacta with fave on top

SR5 Kellstorm - hasn't set the world on fire this prep. Last start in this grade, he had good late sectionals.Meets the winner several kgs better and should not get so far back on the better surface. I'm trusting that the Freedman camp has him worked out tuned up now, after 5 starts - $41 & $11

BR5 strikes me as a potential roughies race

I like a couple  #11 Jule's Spirit and #7 Epic Girl.

Throw in #8 The Great Boombino for the tri.

well done in identifying the race as a likely ruff result - a $126 winner - a shame you didn't go wider

Today

MR6 Banstead - $26 & $6.50 - 4th up - he was switched back in distance, last start and it was way too short but ran ok as he was held up - out to suitable distance and a better track

Bluddy Banstead ran 3rd. Still a nice divvy at $6.50.

I got $7 fixed

GOSFORD R3-Executive Chairman

Former European and transfered to Singapore. Raced thru the grades in that region and got to stakes class.

First up today over 1600m bm 64 grade. Might have a little too much class for these

sandown hillside r8-ZAPURLER 31/1

Was specked by me last years VRC Oaks and she let me down big time, Hugh said she was making funny sound after the race.

been given plenty of time to mature and i think she might reward the owners with a few wins this campaign

Tatta Tiara: Eckstein. Great record at the track, Waller factor, Newitt going well, about $25. Worth a few bob each way.

well my time away was short

BR5 Lucky Prospector $46 ($71 powered) & $12 - fitter now and the good track helps - needs to hold a forward posi, unlike last start

my atrocious tipping leaves me no choice but to have time away - not sure if it will be a short or long time - please keep this thread going

MR2-I'M DUN DREAMING
MR7-HOLBIEN
BR5-SALSONIC
BR9-LEONARDO DA HINCHI
SR5-AL MAH HAHA

Doomben Cup - Race 8 - Horse 17 Sixties Groove.

Four from four over 2000 and comes to hand quickly. About $15 so worth a bit each way.

BR1 Stella Ombre

BR2 Aqua Vite

BR3 Trusty Lad - best EW of day

BR7 Morendi - a far better chance than the $126 currently on offer - probably not good enough but he is lengths better at EF and at his best distance

MR3 Written Choice - 2 starts since being gelded - 1st up folded quickly - last start was used up early and only weakened 100m out - extra fitness and senior jockey, should see him there at the end $71 & $18 odds are juicy

MR6 Travismyfriend - not sure why it is $91 & $21 - has run 3rd in a Gr3 in NZ over this distance and last start was OK

MR8 Runaway - has won this track and distance - won Geelong Cup in spring and 3rd up stats are good - $23 & $5.30

AR3 Chequered Flag - would be a best bet if track was wet

AR4 Maigret - more a place than win

AR5 Bring Me Roses - surely due

AR6 Lady Of Crebilly - odds seem way over

AR7 Casino Wizard - will finish close up - not as good of a field as previous editions, and he has been in the mix previously in this race

MR2 Special Alert

MR7 Immelmann

MR8 Demonstrate - my best ruffie

BR6 Straturbo - rarely fails to figure at this distance when drawn in

BR8 Savvy Coup - went ok at 1600 last start - better suited over 2000m

SR4 Hogmanay - back in distance

Nice tip Sydeston, hope you made some good coin.

Thanks Ramses, Loges and Todman. I backed him EW at $51 and got 33% of the tri. Kicking myself I didn't put more on - but isn't that always the lament when you back a roughie?? Good punting to you all.

Well done Syd-nice one, keep up the good work.

Cheers, Loges.

Sorry about the late posting. I meant to put it up on Friday but forgot. I don't think it actually appeared until after the race although I posted it 20 minutes before.

Some time ago I proposed a solution to support the instantaneous posting of tips here, maybe it could be done now.

There would be a screen similar to what the TAB betting page looks like, without the actual betting features of course and only with the win and e/w selection as we usually don't tip multiples anyway.

There would be a field with the name of the thread eg RUFFIES. So only the thread name, the selection information and the user name could be submitted from that page at all- no other text, no comments, therefore no need for R&S to moderate those posts (think of the saved time and effort on the r&s side).

sydeston, I received a tip for him on Saturday morning but was too sure that the faves had him covered - what a dill

A great tip, nevertheless

Doomben race 8 horse 8 The Bostonian
Great in Brisbane last year. Four from four first-up!!! Rovered with Osborne Bulls in the trifecta.

belle of cadiz syd race 3 no 13
SEEWHATSHEBRINGS adr race 6 no 16
good punting

BR2 Perfect Dare - I got $61 & $11 but now $35 & $8 - forgive his 1st up run and he should be single figure odds

BR5 Trusty Lad - $15 & $3.30 - way overs

BR7 Savvy Coup - back to a good track - big improvement last start & the Waller/McEvoy magic make the odds too good to pass - $26 & $7

BR8 Havasay - if he runs to his very best, which is infrequent, then off a fast pace he could place - $251 & $31

BR9 Libran - forgive his last run, and he should be favorite - $10 & $3.50 - wouldn't be surprised if he firms up sharply

SR2 The Bandit - $15 & $4.60 - value

MR1 O'Lonera - $13

MR2 Written Choice - $14 & $4.20

MR3 Crockett - $16 & $4 - my best ruffie

MR4 He Ekscels - $17

AR7 Mangione - $34 & $8.50 - Waller's shrewdness gives him a big tick

AR8 Causeway Girl

I put up a best bet in this race today - Bryan but this horse is capable and last run can be forgotten

VR8 Swampland - $61 & $16

like pinch river today sr6 no2 may pinch an easy lead, barrier a bit of concern, will Q with the toppy to be safe.
Brissy race 6 no 16 Canberra, nice distance for this horse, will have Angel Dane to keep it tucked in, then should explode and hang a good win.
adel race 7 no 8 he will boom. bit erratic but I can see him figuring in the finish
good punting

BR3 The Avenger $12
NR4 Miss Que $17
NR8 Kellstorm $81 & Alward $26 & Sixties Groove $26

AR8-AMANIKAN-
LAST START SECTIONALS-were equal to the winner, once she saw a bit of daylight she attack line.
OWNER & TRAINER COMBO-M Kent seems to target these races with lightly raced types
DAM-should of won the G1 THOUSAND GUINEAS but she fu@k'n missed the start

Well done with Valentino Rosso Todman. I agree with Gold Touch and Eawase (drier track this week will suit better). I don't have much to offer other than ones I've tipped before, both will get back and run on.

SR5/MR8 Sheezdashing
SR7 Lanciato
SR8 Miss Que

For multis/exotics...

SR4 - SHE'S FURLINE - good effort behind Multaja, back on dry should suit.
SR5 - My Nordic Hero has been backed in from $23 but I quite like ABDON here even if not so rough a price now.
SR6 - Backed POWER SCHEME last week and no reason to jump off. Based on Vinco's unlucky run, that Mornington form might prove to be the right line.
SR7 - CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES almost got knocked over by SAL in the TJ but picked up and finished off well. Good little mare this.

One for tonight - Pakenham R3 Deslshay

Has only had 3 starts - his last 2 starts b4 spell were very solid - his recent trial was immensely better than those leading into his first prep and he has a senior jock on top.

$23 & $5.50 hopefully will be best odds and if stable is going for a 1st up kill, he should shorten before the race.

Delshay has blown in the early market - went to $31 now back to $27 - if it doesn't firm, the leave it alone

BR2 Deconstructed - appears to be running into form - produced some good efforts in December that would see him competitive here - $17 & $4.20

BR6 Happy Go Plucky - $35 & $9.50 - has good 2nd up stats and has had a solid trial leading into this 1st up run, where no trials are listed before previous 1st runs - 1400m is a great distance for him and on most occasions he has drawn a good alley, has been able to pozi forward

BR8 Brilliant Mind - $61 & $14 - particularly for a place but the top 2 fave's are not dominant in my book, and back to 1600, he should be forward in race and be strong at end

SR8 Black On Gold - he fas some excellent 1st up form - stable produced him 1st up at Flemington over 1800m in Spring - this race is a little stronger but the 1600m 1st up suits better - $31 & $8.50

SR9 Generalissimo - $12 & $3.80 - has good stats at track and 1300m 1st up after a very good trial will suit

AR4 Go The Journey - $16 & $4.20 - the track and distance suit and his form is good

AR6 Casino Wizard - $15 & $4.20 - has poor stats at 1400m as a younger horse but may need the extra distance now

AR7 Crockett - $14 & $4 - looks ready for this

J. Collett is back on him again today, Piggy.

The best rider of backmarkers by a mile.

Get on!

Champagne Stakes

Race 6 Horse 11 Crystal Falls - about $19.

Nicely bred and has been set for this. Master trainer and all of her runs good. The race provides a few upsets and she is the best of the roughies.
good luck all.

I'm with you on Crystal Falls. Hoping the blinkers coming off can make the difference from his Sires run.

Ascot Race 9 no. 11 M'Lady
Not pressured in Lark Hill Trial where she led all the way and won in good time.

Going for a few who ran shockers on wet tracks

SR2 Aylmerton
SR4 Kahlo - first starter from Hawke's stable
SR5 Lean Mean Machine - Waller scratched other horses in race
SR6 Scarlet Dream & Maracaibo
SR8 Vengeur Masque - although I think Rondibella is a great bet
SR9 Fundamentalist & Sedanzer
SR10 Savatiano

MR9 Poetic Dream - my best ruffie

a few for Warwick Farm today

R4 My Psychiatrist
R5 Bravissimo
R7 Valentino Rosso

following my good result with Valentino Rossi, on Wednesday, I have a few for Randwick tomorrow.

R1 Gold Touch - just bordering on a ruffie
R3 House Of Cartier - big rise in class but stable has big plans for her
R4 Eawase - was a good effort 1st up on wet track - right in this
R5 Persan - not sure if the fall will rob him of confidence, but should have nearly won that race
R9 Snippets Land - dry track gives him his chance

Randwick
R3 Mandylion $14
R8 Gallic Chieftain $13
R9 Princess Posh $41
Spanish Reef $26

Caulfield
R1 Fiorente's Girl $34
R2 Lizard Island $21
R3 Araaja $13
R7 Yulong Yuheng $26
R9 Liapari $151

SR2 TAHITIAN DANCER ($15) - 2nd up - the Mystic Journey form from last prep when also 2nd up looks good now and the 1st up run in restricted grade at Mornington was very good, conceding weight to the r/up (since won by 4L Sandown midweeker) when they gapped the rest in good time. Senior hoop on.

SR5 SPANISH WHISPER ($41) - bit more speculative but came off a G2 Kewney win (form out of that quite good) into last week and was held up badly at the 200m when looking for a run in a big field, conceding 4kg to all but one of those who finished in front of her. Got going last 50 and hit the line well for 9th but less than 3L. Meets the boys now but gets the fillies allowance and Williams/Hayes combine. TROPE might be one to watch here but this filly is better than the price suggests imo.

A lot of nice divs yesterday Todman, well done.

Caulfield

MR8 Jumbo Prince - $151 & $41 - if he can find his QLD form, $41 for place is a great price - win price is huge

Toowoomba

BR6 Muraqaba - $51 & $11
BR7 Endless Days - $23 & $6 - have tipped him several times - he is back to his best distance, but needs to race forward to have a chance
BR8 In His Stride - $71 & $15 - he only salutes occasionally, but can mix it in black type races - not sure re barrier, but has regular jock on - there should be good early speed

Here's a few to avoid, considering my current form.

SR4 Princess Posh $13
BR9 Hirtshals $35
MR2 Alaskan Honey $21

Randwick - ruffies galore - prices are not enhanced - I am working on a slow 6/7

R1 Libertini - $12 - I got $16
R2 Shuffle Up - $21 - I took $126
R3 Maracaibo - $16 - I got $18
R4 Westlink - $31 - I got $41
R5 High Bridge $34 - may get better
R6 Castelvechio $10
R7 Surely Sacred - $13 - I took $20
R8 Fell Swoop - $81 - took $101 - he is showing glimpses of his old top form - if you analyse his last run against Sunlight plus a slow track, his inside draw could see him figure
R9 Aloisia - $71
R10 Eawase - $31 - hoping she gets a slow 6 at worst

Obviously, these can not all figure, but a win and a few placings will be good, anymore will be sweet

Todman, that was sensational at Randwick, I wonder if anyone did those place bets in multis, I haven't but to be sure today I am thinking how good it could have been...

Forgot one for Moonee Valley, though wish they would stick to longer straights for her.

MR8 Sheezdashing @ $15

Friday-
MR6 Kevikki @ $15

Saturday
BR9 Hirtshals @ $35
SR1 Into The Abyss @ $11
SR8 Baller @ $51
MR3 Miss Iano @ $11

I won't quit on Akasaki yet. Last to begin and finished the race off very well thru the line. I may have to move him to a best bet soon.
Cheers,The Pig.

Wait until J. Collett gets back on Piggy and then go for him.

BR6 Fish 'N' Snitz - $31 & $7.50 - with the light weight and slow track, she can at least place

SR2 Akasaki loves wet going and fixed price odds suggest interest. I can't take FP but will wait and have a go at place odds hopefully 5-6 bucks. I also believe Hartnell at $10 is way overs so I've had 60 wins.

With their odds the Clapper and Hartnell must have lost a leg. Shapes like a good F4 go here with the pre or contenders Alizee and Mystic journey. Add Material Man (good backing),Grunt, and the top two and hope. I might try a double trio also. If you can get the double trio in Sydney today you can buy Tasmania.

Good luck,The Pig.

with wet tracks in 2 venues, it's worth having a go at a few more ruffies that handle conditions

SR2 Memes - $41 & $10 - possibly out of form as last start was poor - 1st up was good - the wet track might be the key
SR3 Amercement - 20's - likes track and the wet track
SR6 Rodrico - $18 & $4.60
SR7 Noire - $26 & $7 - had excuses last start and loves wet
SR7 Savvy Coup - $126 & $26 - a small interest here as 1st up was poor, but she is a gr1 horse and NZ'ers usually plough thru heavy tracks
SR8 Brazen - already posted on thread

GOLD COAST - prices likely to be volatile as day progresses

BR1 Gun Bolt & Nelumbo
BR2 Perilous Love & Meteorologist
BR5 Monaco Playboy & Zollikon Miss by wet track sire
BR6 Endless Days
BR7 Class Of Royalty - $81 & $18 - a throw at the stumps here - breed go ok in wet
BR8 Say I Cee You - keen on this one
BR9 In His Stride

MR1 Moonlover
MR2 Orcein
MR3 Judgement - $19 & $4.60 - way overs
MR4 Sir Edwin Landseer - keen

Hopefully a good sign Todman.

Will throw in MR5 Starrybeel @ $17

Melbourne Race 8: Moss 'n' Dale.

Moss Trip in the Coolmore.

Ticks the boxes - form, weight, jockey, trainer, barrier, wet track.

Already attracted some interest - currently $12 in from $18-20.

Gets a run now and with the probability of a wet track I took...

SR7 Mandylion $101 & $25

Ramses, it's in to 50's now.

I think Brazen in SR8, @ $126 & $26 is worth a small EW - class rise is probably too much but if the track goes to heavy, he goes thru it good, plus he has the stamina and a light weight to keep him in it for a long way.

Alpine dancer and Pressway both at e/farm

SANDOWN

MR3
Ancient King - was $151 but now $101 - I took $251 & $51 - he prob needs a few more runs, but new trainer may improve him - drop in grade - extra distance - not worth risking much though

MR6 Waltonia - $61 & $14 - not sure why she is these odds - her form is on the up

Backed Irukandji myself @ $26 Tod. Saturday -

MR6 Dothraki @ $71 & I'll Have A Bit @ $81

MR8 So Si Bon @ $34 & $7 Promised myself I'd never go there again but last start was possibly his best. Two questions - has he finally settled down now there's been a gap since his knackering, and can Pike get the best out of him?

Other question is can Vengeur Masque repay some of my losses on him in the Auckland Cup. Not rough, only $5.50. Quin 5x with Charles Road.

Newcastle Newmarket

while I think that Lanciato is the horse to beat, these 2 ruffies interest me

Invictus Prince - $11 - need I refer back to his 1st up 2nd to Winx last August

Irukandji - his 1st up effort was ok - he will be in or near lead - $26 & $6

THUD! At least I did better on Groupies.

Many thanks dhaulagiri.

Cheers all, The Pig.

2 for today at Pakenham

R4 City Chap - $41 & $10 - he is only a 4 year old and seems to be maturing given his form last prep - he has put in a few good 1st up runs and 1600m 1st up, gives him his chance

R8 Portman - $16 & $4.60 - at first glance, it looks too short, but the 1200m only has one slight turn and a long straight - all he needs is a good pace - the jock needs to make a long run from before turn

I'm with you Ramses, loaded up the place on Greysful Glamour.

Similar go on Syds Coin MR5 H11.

Good luck all,The Pig.

r 6 Doomben ,coral Coast,12s at mo ,,thats probably as good as its going to get ,this horse should be a big shortener getting close to race time .

Mel R6 ZEBULON.
Put in an eye-catching performance two weeks ago when 1st up after a 20-month break!
Would expect a bit of improvement 2nd up and a more purposeful ride from barrier one.

Cheers, Loges.

SR7 - Greysful Glamour $61 & $15
SR9 - Budawang $151 & $33

Yeah Todman, he ran home well over the last 200, thought we were going to get third, but nosed out of it.

Agree with Via Balciano Todman. Got $34. Good luck.

Ramses, we were a bit stiff not getting Val B into a place - the rest of my ruffies ran down the track

MR8 Charge - $26 & $6.50 - fave tuff to beat, but if an inside draw is an advantage, he has good early speed and maturity over last spring performances, would see him have a huge show

BR2 Bezzina - $14

BR3 Jaminzah - $15 & $4.20 - my best ruffie

Hey Changaboy, interesting run by Lanciato on Saturday, went back as expected, motored home as expected (didn"t have the fitness of the others). Interesting because they normally have him primed to go straight away - different tack?? ... 1St up good run, might get a nice price next start. Sometimes I get sucked into the flash home horses for a little while, but I think Lanciato has a good win this Autumn and possibly Spring. Anyway, I'll be losing my coin next start.

just stating my study of form, but I have one that is worth a few bob - the price may not hold

SAT

MR5 Irukandji - on Sportsbet now - $61 & $15 - the fave may be too good, but don't dismiss this Hawke's runner - has finished 2nd over 1000m at Flemington, and 1st up stats in last 2 runs are good

MR5 Irukandji is currently $101 & $26 on Tab fixed

Thanks Todman. I got asked to fill in at bowls at Jindalee early Sat, so put all my bets on early. Shot myself in the foot taking $5 the place about Tiara but still saved my day. Any normal day I would be home all morning and got the other tips too.

So good to see the great input now and I would like to see this thread fire up big time.

Great work all! Cheers,The Pig.

PS. Whilst waiting at our bowls club for a lift home around 6PM a kind poker machine donated 1800 to the cause. Who needs horse racing? MEEEEE!

Happy to oblige troops.

Won't be roughie odds ($4.00?) but get on Mystic Journey in the Australian Guineas- two weeks away. I'm working out a few multis with her...

Nice one Syd, you and Todman saved me from an ordinary day

Well I was right I'd be wrong about Dandre. Nice place div for Tiara Road Todman.

BR9 Rough Eddie $200 & $34
SR6 Brimham Rocks $101
Newcastle R9 Lady Wahoo $31

Not posted for a bit.

r4 no11 fave things
r6 no9 valac
r7 no7 mickey blue eyes

Good punting

Oh, got pure scot in first mel so thats a start.

good tip, Gladys - I thought the class was too big of a step, but maybe the 2 fave's are pretenders

Thanks Todman. What drew my attention to her was the engagement of Joshua Parr.

The trainer seems to put him on horses when they are ready to fire.

He was 15/1 on the exchange, so happy days.

Flemington Race 7 Horse 8 The Inevitable

Took $13 yesterday - still good odds at $10-11

The Bruntons rarely bring a horse over Bass Strait that is not competitive.

Thanks for the leg-up Sydeston, between you and the Tod Man, I've had a good day with a leg in the quaddie now too. Cheers :)

good tip there, Sydeston

Sydney Race 9: Almost Court.

Sydney Race 7: Nakeeta Jane

BR9 Upstart's Pride - I can't believe the odds on offer $151 & $22 - he is an in & out horse, but when he puts in, he is hard to catch - from the barrier, he is worth a dabble

SAT

SR2 Tiara Road - $34 & $7 - been looking for this distance - has finished off both recent starts over 1600m very strongly - and trainer goes good in these Highway's

Friday night at the Valley. Colac Cup Sunday he got into a battle for the lead around the first turn (not sure why - against his recent pattern of sitting just off the pace/midfield - and spent most of the pennies). Another 1000m sitting alone second looking at the leader 6 lengths in front. When asked to drag the field up at the 800m I think he just said "nah". From barrier 1 hopefully can maintain the inside three back. Out to a more suitable 2500m, will need a little luck before/around the turn, but on the short back up, at $31, I'll have a crack each way. But probably wrong again.

MR7 Dandre @ $31 e/w

Will throw Vengeur Masque in for the quin.

I also like Lanciato and i think Mighty Boss might surprise a few, this time last year very unlucky CF ORR

Not that rough but Saturday ..

SR5 Lanciato @ $14

Wednesday ruffie
MR2-LOBSTER NOODLE

Was awkwardly out of the barriers didnt quite know what he was suppose to do first up in the BLUE DIAMOND PREVIEW but his last 600m was alright, goes up an extra 300m which will suit

Thankfully my bad tip didn't appear until Monday. Glad/khap posts appear within an hour. How do you do it G/K?

I don't know why your posts take so long Ramses.

The majority of mine are severely edited if I make any comment about Rex.

I think my lay bets or roughies are posted straight away as the moderators like to give them a great deal of exposure in the hope that if they turn out to be duds, then Team Dunderhead has sufficient time to group and attempt to construct a derogatory sentence or two.

"I got the word early on Saturday and got on then. It was backed in from 60/1 on Thursday."

Sounds like you're very low down on the food chain, Gladys. I have no doubt you backed it, but then of course you laid it at the shorts - and made your usual 5%.

Gee, I hate being negative.

Well done Pig.

Gary, this is a thread about roughies.

If you want to make snide, childish remarks why not go over to the thread you created for Khap and myself and I will give you my reply. Not that it will be printed, just edited out like all the others when you get a bit back.

more time for this one

AR7 Banchory's Coice - $23 & $6 - a good place chance, at least

this probably won't get moderated in time, nor probably read, as the popularity of the forum wanes

Today

SR3 My Psychiatrist - $16 - just needs to show his best Melb form to romp this in

NIce tip on My Psychiatrist at $18, which was a victim of bad luck. Still paid $7 for second place.

You would think that positioning behind the favourite would be to your advantage. But the fave became nuisance value, dragged your horse back through the field, and then kicked up and kept you three wide as you were chasing the tearaway leader.

Even that one was edited. I used a different name to refer to "you know who"

Thank you Gladys!

Finally a positive contribution to the forum for a brilliant result.I had a F4 very early in the day and the big go ion the last 2-3 mins. left me speechless. Won the F4 and lost money.

Keep up the good input and we can all prosper.
I take my hat off to you.
Cheers,The Pig.

Thank you Piggy. I got the word early on Saturday and got on then. It was backed in from 60/1 on Thursday.

I looked again at the price mid afternoon and by then it was in to 7/1 and even the dogs were barking it.

Have a look at the strike rate for Robbie Dolan in the last race of the day.

Colac Cup R7

10 Dandre

Doomben r4,Cailini,Good buying at $13.

Raay of dreams.

Oink.

Sydney Race 8: Rodrico

Sydney Race 9: Cisco Bar

Melbourne Race 6: Lankan Star

Strewth. Kidding they didn't come for Cisco.

I got him early at 19/1 before the money arrived.

SAT

MR9 Harlem - he is $51 & $9.50 on BET365 - only $31 on most other sites - had a ordinary prep last spring - he has run some good races fresh, and I am hoping that Walker can place him forward from barrier 1, ready to pounce early in straight - lots of horses resuming, so he may hold on if he gets to lead.

SR4 Rancho Notorious - probably not up to class, but connections have been patient and his breeding suggests that he should be ever on the improve into the 2nd half of his 3yr old season - at $51 & $9 - suggest he be followed this start forward

SR5 Logan River - $51 & $14 - another out of his class, but may give a cheeky sight from inside barrier

just noticed that Rancho Notorious is just about to jump in race 2 at Canterbury - there is a hot fave but I had a go at $12

other value runners at same venue
Masterati
ingeegoodbee
macewan
bluebrook

Some good tipping there Keefy.

Hope you backed them, and jagged the quaddie.

Stupid price for this one today! Covered more ground than Burke and Wills and subject of a stewards enquiry last start. Likes give in the ground and should be reaching his peak. Today at a pet distance, or next run?

SR5 #7 HANDFAST. I'm on at 31 and 7's.

Good luck, The Pig.

They kinda racing big later today we have the Sunmet WFA grade1 and this horse Tap O'Noth has great 3yo form and will run above his price of 33/1

MR2 Double Bluff - had similar form this time last year, before winning at Caulfield, 12 months ago - $21

SR6 Dothraki - @$26, his race fitness on a slow track, his great stats at track, and race tactics, may see an upset

BR9 Strathmore - yet to show up since returning from HK, but 2 starts ago at Rosehill over this distance, he went ok - the $26 & $7.50 look juicy odds

strathmore has blown to $101 - so no hope???

Both Sunshine Coast
Adoradiva r4 $26 and $6,first try at 1600,3 kg claim will help.

Fit for Purpose,$16 and $4.40,third up from a spell ,ready to act ,long straight suits this horse ,won plenty off him last prep.

Any interest in South African racing?

None from me, re punting

tonight

MR5 Bicondova - $67 & $15 - more a place ruffie as she is racing well out of her class - would need a classy ride but with 52 on her back, and a hectic early pace, she is a place chance

while my ruffies never stood up, I was stoked by the runs of Malvern Estate, who, at $251, raced 4 wide and was not far away at the end, & Oh Five Glory, who got out to $126 and ran a decent race - of course there are no cookies unless a ruffie is placed, but I still get a kick when a ruffie does well

Gold Coast r 7 Persuader ,Mick Price hasnt taken this horse here for a holiday ,3 wide the trip last start wasn't knocked around ,with a better run could get in the money $31 at the mo.

Love my cricket and Australian cricket needs all the help they can get.So this is both a Ruffie and an Omen tip.

Mr 7 no 10 - Sir Donald
Ran well first up closing well.
Second up (5:2-1-1), 1100m (6:2-1-1)

BTW - Horse racing is animated roulette.

As I state each year, I love Magic Millions day - winners are hard to come by, so ruffies are likely to score in a few races, so I have had a pick in 8 races. Good Luck

BR1 Rock - trainer has a good record in this race in recent years - the alley is tuff, but there are a lot of decent chances in the race so I expect there will be pace - he certainly was put away for this race after his debut last August - $10 & $3

BR2 Beraht - $35 & $9 - he is suss at 1200m but the speed map suggests he should get in behind the leaders early

BR3 Havasay - his last 2 runs have been dreadful - he has run well here in last 3 years - if he can turn form around ( a big if), he wins - he is unders on form at $27 & $7.50

BR4 Endless Days - he went ok last year when needing to win the week before, to make the field - this year, he was safely in the field and has had a better prep - last start effort behind Tally was good, but barrier helped - a few of the top chances have also drawn out - if he goes back, I don't think he can place - he needs to go forward at start and slot in near lead, and he will be a real chance - $19 & $5

BR5 Malvern Estate - $251 & $30 - he promised much in early 2018 - last prep was fair - this race is probably out of his reach, but he should go forward and he was running some smart last 600m sectionals, this time last year.

BR6 Ellicazoom - $13 & $3.60 - a repeat of her first up effort in Sept, sees her win this easily

BR7 Smart Ellissim - $23 & $5.50 - she has run in a few black type races and been competitive - my best ruffie

BR8 Oh Five Glory - $101 & $21 - unlike last start, will settle ahead of the fave - and needed the run last start - quick backup was planned, so she should be in the mix turning.

There are three good roughies at the Gold Coast today.

GC Race 5: Fiery Heights. I got on at $26, now $15

GC Race 6: Sasso Corbarro. $19

GC Race 7: Light Up The Room. $14

Lay Houtzen and Outback Barbie.

r4 Gold Coast ,Rancho Montoya,$23 Will it get the trip??thats the unknown ,Colour of money ,in the same race,$16

r 7 Zoom by $18,will be in this ,for a long way

Gold Coast R4, Rancho Montoya $23. Will it get the trip? That's the unknown. Colour of Money, in the same race at $16.

R7 Zoom By $18. Will be in this for a long way.

MissRock always worth following not only it is a very good runner but mysteriously also always bigger odds e/w than it should be. As long as she generally wants to continue racing an occasional loss is no concern.
