GROUPIES RESULTS –Autumn 2022 round 8
Sires/Australian Derby/ TJ Smith Stakes/ Doncaster Mile

Doncaster/Derby Day lived up to its high standard, and despite the heavy track, delivered and great day of racing.

Favourites proved true to form in three of the four Group 1 races, with exciting new stars of the turf Fireburn and Hitotsu respectively winning the Sires and Derby, and top sprinter Nature Strip emulated Chautauqua by winning the T J Smith Stakes for the third consecutive time.

The only surprise result was Mr Brightside winning the Doncaster Mile with hot favourite Forbidden Love failing to run a place.

Nobody tipped Mr Brightside in the Doncaster, but quite a few Groupies tipped the winning treble of Sires/Derby/T J Smith.

Top scorers for the round are Loges2 and RJ1 who earned points in all four races, the aforementioned treble plus second placed I’m Thunderstruck in the  Doncaster; in fact the only two Groupies to win points in that race. Great tipping guys!

Oldtimer hangs on to top spot on the Autumn Leaderboard having a narrow lead from Dagz, but Loges2 now threatens them both having jumped into third place.

The Yearly Leaderboard order remains much the same.
