GROUPIES RESULTS Autumn 2022 Round 18 Final

The Tatts Tiara proved a boon for Dagz, the sole tipster for winner Startantes, who romped in at big odds, which enabled him to overtake Oldtimer at the last minute to win the 2022 Autumn Groupies Competition by a comfortable margin.

Oldtimer however had too big a lead on the Yearly Board to catch and is the 2021/2022 Season Champion.. Ramses finished second  and Dagz took out third place

Dagz victory was accomplished by tipping several long shot winners, notably Daumier in the Blue Diamond Stakes and Hinged in the Surround Stakes in Round 3, Lombardo in the Goodwood in Round 14 and Alligator Blood in the Stradbroke, capping it all off with Startantes.

Oldtimer’s top tips were Sierra Sue in the Futurity Stakes, Daumier in the Blue Diamond, Shelby Sixtysix in the Galaxy, Glint of Hope in the SA Oaks and Apache Chase in the Kingsford Smith Cup.

GROUPIES RESULTS - Autumn 2022 round 17 - JJ Atkins / Stradbroke Handicap

Congratulations to Euraman and Dagz who both tipped the winning double of Sheeza Belter and Alligator Blood and thus are the top scorers this week, the double rewarding them a handy 30.2 points.

Dagz has been in second spot on the Autumn Leaderboard for several weeks behind Oldtimer , but even though his score this week narrowed the gap, Oldtimer still has a nose in front.

All will be decided in the final round a fortnight hence.

Oldtimer looks unbeatable on the Yearly Board well ahead of Ramses in second place having a 16.1 point advantage.

GROUPIES RESULTS Autumn 2022 - round 16 - Queensland Oaks

Gypsy Goddess started favourite for the Queensland Oaks and didn’t disappoint her backers, winning the race in impressive fashion from the game Barb Raider.

The collective Groupies tipped the trifecta and first four, with myself and The Mighty Quinn being the sole tipsters for Gypsy Goddess and thus top scorers for the round.

Both Leaderboards remain much the same as last week, Oldtimer still holding steady to top spot on both.

GROUPIES RESULTS Autumn 2022 - round 15 
Doomben Cup / Queensland Derby /Kingsford Smith Cup

Oldtimer has certainly been in great tipping form this Autumn, once again top scoring with his tips for Zaaki, Pinarello and Apache Chase earning him a solid 38.74 points this week. Incidentally he was the only Groupie to tip the Kingsford Smith Cup winner Apache Chase.

As a result he has increased his lead on the Autumn Leaderboard, and has toppled Ramses from top spot on the Yearly Board and is the one to beat with only four Group 1 races to run before the end of the Autumn Groupies Competition.

Jet deserves an honourable mention for also tipping two winners, Huetor and Pinarello, plus third placed Eleven Eleven in the Kingsford Smith Cup and accrued 38.60 points for the round.

GROUPIES Autumn 2022 round 15 - Doomben Cup / Queensland Derby/ Kingsford Smith Cup

Here we go again with the Doomben Cup this Saturday tacked on to the Queensland Derby meeting at Eagle Farm that also includes the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup.

So there are three Group 1 races to tip this round over various distances and most likely run on a slow track.

The Doomben Cup field is pretty much a duplicate of last week’s but with different barriers, so please tip this race afresh to make it easier to collate results.

GROUPIES RESULTS Autumn 2022  round 14 - The Goodwood

As the Doomben Cup was postponed last Saturday due to the appalling weather, it now appears that it will be run at Eagle Farm on Saturday 28 May along with the Queensland Derby and Kingsford Smith Cup.

Rather than delay the results of The Goodwood and allow the sole scorer Dagz to bask in Group 1 tipping glory, here are the results and updated Leaderboards.

As mentioned, Dagz was the only Groupie to score any points in the Goodwood with his tip for winner Lombardo who came in at big odds and yielded 29.5 points.

This has rocketed Dagz up the Autumn Leaderboard to sit menacingly just 1.6 points behind current leader Oldtimer.
