Blue Diamond Preview-F (LR)
Promising filly Eloping ($3.25 fav) backed-up her good debut win at Bendigo on 22 December with a smart win here. She was a little slow to move but soon recovered from her good barrier (2) to move though to take the lead. She the settled nicely in front, grabbed a break on straightening and fought on nicely to win by a length, in good time (57.67). The Robert Smerdon-trained filly Lumosty made a good debut. She settled fifth on the rails from her inside barrier (1), improved along the rails rounding the home turn and went to second at the 200m. She then kept battling on nicely to hold that position to the post, only being beaten a length. Sakitto was seventh on the rails, got a run between runners on straightening but was checked when making ground at the 200m. She was fourth past the post but was subsequently awarded third on protest. London Lolly was second to the turn and was battling on quite well but raced greenly in the straight, checking Sakitto, then fought on to be third past the past but was relegated to fourth on protest. It a sound debut effort, nevertheless. *ANZ
