Hawkesbury Gold Cup (G3)
Coup Ay Tee was allowed to drop out early and Jason Collett settled him in second last place on the rails in the ten-horse field. He switched between runners nearing the home turn and fanned wide on straightening where he was giving the leader about seven lengths. He then produced a great turn of foot to grab the lead at the 50m and he then went on for a good win being perfectly ridden by Collett. Julienas travelled well in sixth place, one off the rails. He moved up rounding the turn, challenged strongly at the 200m but could not hold off the late bid from the winner, holding on for a good first-up second. Darci Be Good enjoyed a good trip, third on the rails. He got a run through to be second at the 200m and kept battling on well for a sound third. Samui Ladsoon led and set an average pace before pinching a break on straightening. He then fought on quite well for fourth. Cantonese was a handy third most of the way but trapped three wide. He held his ground well in the straight to finish fifth, just in front of Mic Mac who raced outside the leader and held on fairly well for sixth while the favourite Loaded ($4.40) was seventh on the rails to the 600m, was blocked early in the straight, then made ground for seventh, beaten just over two lengths. *ANZ
