Star Thoroughbreds-raced Echo Prince scored a narrowly good win on debut. He was a little slowly away and was urged to improve, getting through to be fifth on the rails. He was again under riding nearing the home turn and he responded (getting a split) going to second on straightening. He then fought gamely and after quite a battle, scored a gutsy half head win. Nip Of Time went to the front and was pressured for the lead a couple of times before turning for home with a clear break. She was challenged by the eventual winner at the 200m but she continued to fight back very well for a good second. A protest against the winner was subsequently dismissed. The Darley-raced filly Kwinana was handy all the way and held on to take third after seeming to have every chance. *ANZ
