The under-rated Alpha Miss proved a little too good yesterday being ridden off the pace and taking inside runs before holding off the late challenge of Memorial on her inside. This was another good effort by the consistent filly who was carried top weight of 56kg. Memorial was good in defeat. She was a little slowly into stride and then beaten for early pace settling down last. Kieran McEvoy looked to take closer order approaching the 600m and cornered three wide searching for runs. He then switched back to the inside and she finished on gamely closer to the rails for a good second. She will be improved by the run and a step up in distance. A good first up run. Aerobar had every chance in the run fourth between runners. She was switched out to the middle of the course in the straight and was nearest at the finish without looking a winning chance. Wandjina and Brazen Beau shared the lead and where the first two turning for home looking as if Brazen Beau was going the better. They both plugged to the line and were a little disappointing finishing fourth and fifth respectively. *ANZ
