On a day where not one leader won and you had to have cover or come from the back with a tricky wet Wingatui track there were upsets galore. This meeting was abandoned from six days earlier after one race and a nasty slip. The winner Another Coup buried this big 3yo field from well back in a race they went hard up front and clocked 1:25.14. This compared well to the Ratings 75 held one race prior that saw an upsetter bury them in 1:25.76, so they clocked over three lengths superior than the older horses. It was the third win for Another Coup and her first stakes result. The first four home in this Listed event came from the back to confirm the leaders went too hard. Querer tried hard to maintain her unbeaten course record while Riding Shotgun got home nicely from well back as usual. The favourite Belle Miraaj again delayed the start and kept many rivals standing for several minutes in their stalls so stewards may need to readdress this situation in the interests of fairness. She drifted back wide early but ran home well albeit too late. Signify was massive for fifth as he was back and very wide then worked up deep midrace and then threatened turning for home. Legnani was the first home that was in or near the lead early so more credit too her effort than it would seem. La Veuve got home too late while the tearaway leader Miss Seton Sands stopped to tenth but can be forgiven as not well rated at all in front. There are several in this field that will win again once more at least this season as this race was of reasonable strength and it was just the footing and way it got run that provided such a result.
