A horse that's breaking the 100 mark with Timeform is typically a bit better than benchmark 78 grade in the Summer and I definitely think Snapped fits that mould in the last.
She showed plenty of ability as a three-year-old, winning her first two starts and posting a peak of 98 at just her second outing, before two poor runs either side of a spell last year.
She was given a good break and it appears to have done wonders, returning at Sandown-Hillside over 1000m, settling back in the field and ripping home in some strong sectionals to win by nearly 3 lengths.
Her sectionals were easily the best on the day and her rating of 100+ there suggests there is plenty more to come with a more positive ride and/or a better getaway. The rise in trip suits and she should be able to sit much closer from the inside gate especially given she's led races in the past.
This looks a nice option for her and with just an ounce of luck at the right time I think she'll be too strong.
For one at a bigger price I'm looking to the preceding race as Irish Legend looks set to run a peak rating here fourth up. In five runs over two preparations in Australia the furthest he's raced over was 1800m, which was last start.
Coincidently, that was a peak rating on our shores, running to 98 there after doing a bit of work early to get across. I liked the intent there from a wide gate and am expecting more of the same here- he should be able to sit in the first four.
Peak ratings over 100 in the UK over this distance range read well and on our weight-adjusted ratings he actually brings the second best last start effort, yet the market has him around fifth pick.
At $12/3.8 he looks more than capable of outrunning those odds.
