TRIAL POINTERS

ROSEHILL May 19: Bold front running grey FROSTY ROCKS was the star of the four heats over 1030m, showing again that he is set to make up for lost time after a long break of 15 months since he last raced. After his easy first-up trial win at Canterbury on May 5, he repeated with a an all the way win in the quickest of the four heats over the distance (63.30; 35.60) under another soft ride from Rachel King. The race fit EXCELLADUS also impressed with a strong win in his 1030m heat (63.56; 36.05) after sitting three deep but the eye catcher in this heat came from the former Kiwi mare PIN ME UP. Her surging finish for a close second in her first outing for her new trainer Clarry Conners augers well for her future prospects. Bjorn Baker's team won five heats with the lightly raced 3YO gelding O'TYCOON showing he has come up well with a strong win in his 900m heat (54.55; 35.06) after standing the leader a big start.

RANDWICK May 15: Veteran sprinter EDUARDO dispelled any questions about his well-being with a strong win, recording easily the fastest time in the nine heats over 1050m. He looked in great health as he led his heat easily and was never under pressure to record a clear cut win with plenty in reserve. The merit of his trial was on the clock as his time of 62.89 (34.86) was almost 1.5 seconds faster than the next best heat over the distance. Behind him the efforts of TASHI and KING OF SPARTA took the eye with their good work over the last 200m. Promising maiden filly AMRAP looks to have improved nicely since her first two starts in January. Settled midfield before surging between runners over the last 100m and running through the line with good purpose to win her 1050m heat (64.97; 35.70)

HAWKESBURY May 8: Hawkesbury Guineas winner HAWAII FIVE OH is primed for his next target. He was all class dominating his 1000m trial (59.18; 33.26) from the front, being kept under a big hold by Tim Clark for a soft win by a margin that flattered his rivals.

CANTERBURY May 5: Promising Zoustar colt OZZMOSIS had not been seen since he won a heat of the early 2YO trials in September. He's an obvious talent as he showed an excellent turn of foot to sweep home from last for a runaway win in his 898m heat after he was restrained at the start from a wide gate. The time wasn't flash (58.44; 37.19) but the track was cutting out and he put a good margin of almost five lengths on them over the last 200m. Trialled again at Randwick on May 15 and it was a similar trial, settling back before working home with style. An excellent return trial by talented 6YO FROSTY ROCKS, doing it easily to lead and win his 900m heat (58.59; 36.81) in his first outing since he won at Randwick in February of last year. The big grey travelled well within himself to beat the classy Vilana in a strong heat.

WARWICK FARM March 17: LADY BROOK is a six time winner and retains her zest for competition with two recent trials pointing to her racing well when she resumes. Sprinted keenly to the line from off the pace to win her 799m heat (47.03; 33.05) and while it was a narrow margin there was a lot to like about her work over the last 100m.

RANDWICK September 19: The Bjorn Baker-trained OZZMOSIS did everything to right to sit outside the leader and kick for home under a ride from Rachel King to win his 850m heat (51.36; 35.49) at the official 2YO trials. Dipped a couple of time in the straight but kept running to the line in good overall time.
