RANDWICK January 23
17 Heats; Soft 7
Course Proper – 1 x 900m (Group/Listed)
A Grass – 15 Heats – 1 x 1200m (Open); 8 x 1045m (3 Open; 2 2YO; 3 Maiden); 6 x 743m (2 Open; 2 2YO; 2 Maiden)
Poly – 1 x 780m (2YO)
Another early preview of what lies ahead with a strong Group trial on the course proper and some interesting results in the trials on the A Grass.
GROUP TRIAL (900m): KOTE jumped into the lead and dictated (53.53; 35.25), a positive sign that he can make further progress through the autumn. Some excellent trials behind him with the classy sprinter JOYFUL FORTUNE closing off in good style for second and the John O'Shea-trained 3YO ZOU TIGER doing it easily under a big hold to finish third. He gives every indication that he is going to blossom as a classy Group performer in his coming prep. Top class pair OSIPENKO and SHE'S EXTREME had easy trials under quiet rides - expect something more positive if they trial again before resuming.

LINDERMANN (Chris Waller): Put this Lonhro colt down as a 3YO to keep a close watch on through the autumn. Looked classy finishing a soft fourth with plenty to offer in his 1045m heat, his second trial since he finished second in a Listed race over 1800m at Flemington in November. Confident the best lies ahead.
SHADOW MOMENT (Mark Newnham): This unraced 4YO by All Too Hard had not been seen since two trials two years ago but there can be no doubting his ability to run after he showed nice speed to record a soft win in his 743m heat (44.39; 33.88). Certainly creates a lot of interest.
SPORTS LEGEND (Les Bridge): This Deep Field 3YO carried high expectations into his first two starts in August but didn't deliver on his early trial promise after striking affected tracks. No doubt he has the talent to win races after cruising through his 743m heat to win with plenty in reserve in the fastest of the maiden trials (43.59; 32.96).
