ROSEHILL March 18

GOLDEN SLIPPER

XXX Cylinder

XX Little Brose; Don Corleone; Learning To Fly; Steel City

X Barber; Shinzo; King's Gambit; Red Resistance

(5) CYLINDER: Brings the best figures with scope for more improvement in an even year. The right jockey and barrier draw makes him the horse to beat.

(4) DON CORLEONE: Should have won the Blue Diamond. Sure to be strong late and Hugh Bowman is the right fit as his jockey.

(10) LEARNING TO FLY: Can't shoot holes in her form. Will get every chance from her soft draw.

(1) LITTLE BROSE: Expect the Blue Diamond result will stand up well against the Sydney form. Foolproof type who will enjoy a good run.

(15) STEEL CITY: Luckless in the Blue Diamond before posting big figures against her own sex last week. Testing prep but right in it with early breaks from her wide draw.

(8) KING'S GAMBIT: The wildcard. Has been costly but it's been a learning process. Ready to peak off a super trial win.

(7) SHINZO: Got his act together for a fine win last week when he got clear air. Has the talent but rails draw a worry as he will have to negotiate the traffic.

(2) BARBER: Unbeaten before the Blue Diamond. Can bounce back with the return to Sydney.

(6) RED RESISTANCE: Couldn't match Cylinders in his first 1200m attempt in the Todman. Must use his speed from wide gate.

Best Bets

RACE 3 (7) PINK IVORY: Classy mare has a strong second up record and looks well placed to run to her best on a good track after her eye catching second over 1600m at Randwick. Will meet the winner THALASSOPHILE 2.5kg better over a course and distance where she has run her best races.

RACE 5 (8) DASHING LEGEND: Another test for this promising young filly. She's been dominant in her two wins since resuming, graduating to black type company at her last start when she put the colts away with ease over 1100m at Randwick. Rises 2kg off that win but she has the right draw to get all the favours.

RACE 9 (7) REMARQUE: Plenty of reasons to give this quality sprinter another chance after he struck an unsuitable soft track at Randwick following his super first-up win at this course. He's back home where he has won two of his three starts over this distance and a massive 7kg drop in weight will give him the chance to display his classy turn of foot coming off the back of a certain hot pace.

EMISSARY

RACE 1: These Midways are never easy. Can see a fitter (13) ARTIE'S AURA enjoying good run from rails draw but 1, 5, 7, 8, 11 and 12 are all in the mix.

RACE 2: Micky Dee is in hot form and will suit the improving (4) GLORY DAZE. Set to step up with a 3kg drop in weight from his strong Randwick win but the stable has four others with claims - (6) LE BAOL is the one to keep safe at good odds. (1) SIR LUCAN is the obvious leader. Rises 2kg to 2400m second up after his impressive return from a long break

at 2000m. 5 and 9 are obvious for exotics.

RACE 4: Not a vintage Rosehill Guineas where the questionable Randwick Guineas form will be tested by those coming from Melbourne. Banking on (2) ELLIPTICAL to improve after a flat run second up in the Australian Guineas - rates to win on his Spring Champion Stakes second on his last Sydney visit. (5) PERICLES coasted to win at Sandown and is clearly the one peaking at the right time. 3 and 4 can obviously play a hand and 1 will be fitter – he's set for the Derby double.

RACE 6: (2) MO'UNGA ready for a peak performance getting to 2000m third up on a course where he is unbeaten in two attempts. Must save on last year's winner (7) MONTEFILIA after her excellent first-up finish over 1600m at Randwick, following the same path she took 12 months ago. Melbourne Cup winner (1) GOLD TRIP and the top class UK star (3) DUBAI HONOUR make it a wfa contest to savour.

RACE 7: You could have expected (1) ANAMOE to progress to 2000m in the Ranvet from his latest 1600m win but he is so adaptable that he should still be too sharp over 1500m under the favourable wfa conditions. Certainly (2) ARTORIUS will be a threat if he can keep Anamoe in his sights with a positive ride. The 3YOs 9 and 11 rate well enough to be must inclusions in the exotics.

RACE 10: Talented Brisbane mare (1) PALAISIPAN proved herself in quality company in the spring and is set for a booming return off a terrific trial win at this course last Monday. (14) HYPOTHETICAL is flying and is sure to use her early speed. Trust (3) ZAPATEO to bounce back in this easier company after a hard run in the G1 Oakleigh Plate. 5,6,7,8, 10 can all be included in extended exotics.

TRIAL POINTERS

RANDWICK March 7: Boom 2YO KING'S GAMBIT was on his game with a sharp win in his 1050m heat (63.49; 35.03). The time wasn't flash but you had to like the way he settled back in the field and let down quickly after taking a split at the 250m to put a gap in them with ease, coasting home by a soft margin of more than three lengths. Excellent trial from nice prospect HELL I AM who is certain to build on his record of four wins from 10 starts. Sat three wide in midfield before surging off the turn and easily running down the fast leader for a soft win in his open heat over 1050m (63.22; 34.23). Expect big improvement form lightly raced maiden MARTIAL MUSIC after a super trial win in his 1050m heat in fast time (61.77; 33.92). Was full of running from the jump and had plenty in the tank cruising to an impressive win by almost seven lengths in the fastest heat over the distance.

WARWICK FARM March 2: Well exposed filly PLATINUM JUBILEE, the Gimcrack Stakes winner, has had a testing season but showed she has bounced off her Silver Slipper Stakes second in top shape with a cruisy front running win in her 808m heat (47.16; 33.52). Racy filly OZ EMPRESS went into the blackbook with a super trial win at Warwick Farm on February 16. She was again too sharp for her rivals in the fastest 811m heat, doing it easily to score by almost two lengths (47.40; 33.46) and is obviously set to race boldly on debut.

HAWKESBURY February 21: In the fastest 1000m heat (57.99; 33.27) SHORT SHORTS was a nice second under a good hold.

RANDWICK February 20: SHADES OF ROSE showed her class winning the Group heat over 850m (50.55; 33.01) with style, sitting behind the pace before splitting the leaders with ease and going to the line under a big hold.

WARWICK FARM February 16: OZ EMPRESS is a free running filly by Exceed And Excel and is certain to take plenty of benefit from this first trial experience after she led her 800m heat with ease and ran away from them over the last 200m in the fastest of the four heats over the distance (47.01; 33.11).
