There was no repeat of the four $3 million-plus lots who starred at the race fillies and mares session of the National Broodmare Sale, but the good results continued when the broodmare section kicked off on Wednesday.

Yulong, which bought four of the nine seven-figure lots on Day 1, again spent up with Jim Clarke also going beyond $1 million for an American mare in-foal to I Am Invincible.

Below is a look at some of the star performers and who bought them.

$1,400,000 – Zenaida: The dam of Tuesday's late show-stopper Sunshine In Paris, who sold for $3.9 million, is off to Yulong after being sold in-foal to Maurice in a deal that was a milestone for Victorian farm Three Bridges, which celebrated their first $1 million sale.

Sam Fairgray, Yulong: "She's a mare that, going forward, the pedigree is going to improve and improve. She's got the two Stakes-winning daughters already and it's likely we'll keep the fillies out of her and keep building the family."

$1,375,000 – Great Vibes: Another bound for Yulong's Victorian base after being bought out of the Arrowfield draft. The daughter of Showcasing is in-foal to Frankel, a stallion who means so much to Yulong's Yeusheng Zhag.

Sam Fairgray, Yulong: "She was a beautiful mare, probably the best-looking mare in-foal to Frankel, so we're really pleased to be taking her home. It's a nice early service, if it comes out looking like her it'll be a good sort."

$1,150,000 – Giza Goddess: The American mare brings different bloodlines, being a daughter of Cairo Prince and was sold by Newgate in-foal to Australia's champion stallion I Am Invincible.

Jim Clarke, buyer: "It's obviously a lovely cover to our champion stallion and these American mares have proven themselves of being very good producers here in Australian, so we're delighted with her. We've got two young stallions in Wild Ruler and Russian Revolution out of American mares and they keep showing up and doing the job. It's probably something a little bit different for our market, but given the record of those sorts of mares we thought it was worth going after her."

$825,000 – Amiche: The daughter of Nature Strip's sire Nicconi is out of the Johannesburg mare Meerlust, which makes her a half-sister to Duais. Amiche was sold in-foal to Snitzel, who is the sire of Duais's stallion Shamus Award.

Shane Wright, Kia Ora: "She's a beautiful mare from a beautiful family, obviously a half to a Group 1 winner already with a very strong family underneath that and, I suppose, if you look at it, she's in foal to Snitzel. He had the Slipper winner this year and although $800,000 is expensive, if you can get a nice Snitzel out, you'd be hoping you can nearly get it back."

$800,000 – Café Royale: The daughter of Snitzel is out of the Hussonet mare Your Life Style, who is a three-quarter-sister to the dam of Shoals and hails from one of the most famous families in the Australian studbook, headlined by Redoute's Choice. She was bought by Craig Rounsefell from Boomer Bloodstock in partnership with Musk Creek Farm.

Craig Rounsefell, Boomer Bloodstock: "She's in-foal and an early cover. She was a tough race mare but a magnificent type from a really deep family that we can hang onto and hopefully get some fillies out of and develop. We'll set her up with a proven stallion."
