Magic Millions is celebrating a successful start to its National Broodmare Sale, with many of the predicted headline lots living up to their high billing.

Nine horses sold for at least $1 million including, including four for a least three times that – Forbidden Love, Sunshine In Paris, Snapdancer and Piping Hot.

Below is a look at the seven-figure fillies and mares and who bought them:

$4,100,000 – FORBIDDEN LOVE: The three-time Group 1 winner was the subject of an intense bidding duel between Yulong Investments and Japan's Northern Farm with the former paying just $100,000 short of the National Broodmare Sale record – which is held by Sunlight – for the daughter of All Too Hard.

Sam Fairgray, Yulong: "We always knew she was going to make a lot of money but when you have tough competition who have got a good system in what they've done buying mares previously, and Mr Zhang is following that similar system, it's always going to be tough, but she's a lovely mare to end up with."

$3,900,000 – SUNSHINE IN PARIS: James Harron pulled together a syndicate to take home the daughter of Invader, who has had just five starts and has not raced since defeating subsequent Sangster Stakes winner Ruthless Dame and Newmarket Handicap heroine In Secret in the Group 1 Surround Stakes. The $10 million Golden Eagle looms as a major spring target.

James Harron: "She's already got a big win on the board but she's only had a handful of starts and she's got a massive future ahead of her. We're going to enjoy racing her for the time being and then she'll be into the broodmare barn later on down the track."

$3,200,000 – SNAPDANCER: The six-year-old daughter of Choisir whose last three starts produced Group 1 wins in the Sangster Stakes and Memsie Stakes, plus a Tatt's Tiara second placing, was also bought by Yulong.

Brad Spicer, Spicer Thoroughbreds, former owner: "She's a dream horse for what we go and source at yearling sales. To see her on a racetrack and to see her here today, she's ticked every box along the way. We're grateful to be involved in a horse like her."

$3,000,000 – PIPING HOT: The dam of Magic Millions heroine and dual Group 1 winner Coolangatta – who next month will represent Australia at Royal Ascot – who is in-foal to champion stallion I Am Invincible was the first of the supplementary lots and has found a new home at Coolmore.

Tom Magnier, Coolmore: "She's in-foal to I Am Invincible, Coolangatta's a champion and she's a gorgeous looking type, so we're delighted to get her. They were all talking that she'd top the sale, but $3 million is still a lot of money, and we're delighted to have her. Fingers crossed she has a nice foal."

$2,300,000 – ISOTOPE: Around 15 minutes after buying Forbidden Love, Yulong also snapped up Isotope, the daughter of Deep Field whose close relation Liberty Island demolished her rivals in last Sunday's Japanese Oaks.

Sam Fairgray, Yulong: "She's obviously a fast mare but she was just a beautiful mare and with the recent pedigree update it helps things. As far as a physical, she was just a beautiful mare, so we're really pleased we've end up with her."

$1,600,000 – SHADES OF ROSE: Arrowfield had eyes for the speedy daughter of Rubick, a close relative of Scallopini, who won a Group 2 level and contested last year's The Everest.

Jon Freyer, Arrowfield Stud: "We thought we she was a magnificent physical and she was just a super-talented, very fast filly and they're the sorts we want to have in our broodmare band. She's a half to a really good horse by Snitzel (Scallopini), so we'll either mate her to Snitzel or The Autumn Sun."

$1,600,000 – PARIS DIOR: Coolmore also spent up on the Group 2 Percy Sykes winner, who is daughter of its well-performed stallion Pierro.

Tom Magnier, Coolmore: "Pierro as a broodmare sire has become a real talking point. He's doing a great job as a broodmare sire and he's doing a great job on the racetracks. The Pierro factor was a big part of the play there. I think she could suit Justify, I think she could suit Home Affairs. We'll have a think about it."

$1,500,000 – VANGELIC: The Vancouver five-year-old got the sale off to a flying start when knocked down to Coolmore's Tom Magnier for $1.5m.

Tom Magier, Coolmore: "It's a good pedigree, she was just a lovely physical – she was one of the nicest physicals we saw – and she was well-rated by all the team. Whatever the offspring out of her will sell very well, so we can be excited by that."

$1,350,000 – PROMISE OF SUCCESS: Another seven-figure Yulong buy who is a daughter of renowned broodmare sire Dansili who won a Group 2 Emancipation Stakes and The Invitation in Australia.

Sam Fairgray, Yulong: "The likelihood is we'll breed her in the spring. Dansili and Frankel go very well together so it's a possibility that she might jump on a plane and head back."
