Narrogin fruitful for prominent ownership group

Narrogin boasted an eight-race card on Saturday night, with the night proving quite the success for owners Oz-West Pacing, Keating and Morris, with the group experiencing a winning treble on the night, with impressive type Hale Saint Louie NZ, Rock On Top and Allaboutlegs also claiming top spots in their respective races on the night.

Humdinger took out the first race on the night for sisters, Jocelyn and Maddy Young. The five-year-old settled behind the leader Thereugo over the 1823m trip, with Young and Humdinger in the clear halfway down the home straight to win by a neck in 1:58:2. The win brought up the five-year-olds third win in just 19 starts, his second win since joining Youngs stable just 12 starts ago.

Race two went the way of Our Star Billing for trainer/driver Donald Harper. The $1.65 favourite led all the way from barrier one, kicking away to win by an 8.1m margin over the 1823m sprint trip in a winning mile rate of 1:59:7.

Allaboutlegs returned from a five-month racing hiatus, with trainer and driver Dylan Egerton-Green working his way to the lead from barrier six, with the four-year-old going on to win by 5m in 2:03:1.

Heading to the paddock after her last start in December 2022 to make room for younger horses in the stable, Allaboutlegs was offered for sale, but with no takers at the time, Egerton-Green put her back into work, confirming that she has returned bigger and better this preparation.

Jane Steer and Mitchell Miller joined forces in race four on the card, with Mister Piccolo winning first up for the new stable. After causing havoc at home leading up to Saturday's race, his debut was in doubt, but the four-year-old was on his best behaviour on Saturday night.

"I wasn't sure that he was even going to get around because he galloped at trials the week before and he was a little bugger at track work,

"But I thought if he held it together, he was a good chance." Steer said

With Ya Betterfollowme racing in good form for the stable, Colin Brown approached Steer with the offer of training Mister Piccolo, with Steer jumping at the opportunity.

"Colin (Brown) spoke to Liam one morning at trials and asked was I looking for aother horse, so I gave him a call and it was him,

"Colin said he was stoked with how good Ya Bettorfollowme had been going, that he would offer us Piccolo to have a go at too. Mr Brown is the best."

Hale Saint Louie NZ continued his winning ways, making it four from four in WA for Dylan Egerton Green. Never looking in any danger, the $1.03 favourite led all the way from barrier two, with Egerton-Green and the three-year-old import kicking away to win by 26.2m in 2:00:3 over the 2242m journey in race five.

Race six, the $11,000 Warm Apple Pie RWWA Westbred Feature over the 2242m went the way of Rock On Top for trainer/driver Aiden De Campo, the third and final instalment of the ownership treble for Oz-West Pacing Keating and Morris. The $1.34 favourite came from nehind to win by 2.3m, giving the four-year-old his eighth career win un 31 starts.

De Campo celebrated a race-to-race training double with Navy Street taking out race seven on the card. Starting off the front line 20m handicap over the 2636m trip, the pair stepped well and with De Campo working his way to the front, he was able to lead all the way to stave off the fast-finishing Chrysoprase to win by a neck in 2:05:2.
