Australian Harness Racing Preview – 11th February 2023

Boom Victorian Catch A Wave will be seeking a Chariots Of Fire berth when he makes his first visit to Menangle on Saturday night.

Andy Gath's four-year-old heads to the Group 3 Paleface Adios Stakes with a terrific strike rate and comes off a hat-trick of wins including the Vicbred Super Series Final and last week's fast-finishing sprint-trip victory over older rivals at Melton.

A wide draw does pose a potential challenge for Catch A Wave in his first trip away but he won his only try at the mile so with even luck will be very hard to hold out.

Cantfindabettorman was impressive second up when he found the front from this same draw before drawing away to cruise home by 16m.

This is stronger but he will be fitter again and is building good statistics at the circuit and the distance.

Invitation Only ran into budding star Captain Ravishing when he made his Australian debut in last week's 4YO Bonanza but he will be better for the hitout and the ace draw could see this pan out well for him.

Heza Son Of Agun finished 9m in front of him when runner up in the Bonanza and a favourable draw can see him in the finish again.

The mares' races are also heating up in Sydney with spots in the Queen Elizabeth II Mile up for grabs in the Group 3 Sibelia Stakes.

The draw has really fallen the way of Braeview Kelly who came from much wider when resuming with a 1.7m win here a fortnight ago.

She will only be fitter for that and is building impressive strike rates at both the circuit and the distance.

Stylish Memphis is a quality mare who has been runner up in both outings since returning to Sydney, chasing smart male rival Expensive Ego two back and drawing the extreme outside when second to Braeview Kelly last time.

She draws a few spots lower and is building towards a win.

Former leading filly Madrid did a good job when resuming as a four-year-old with a fourth to Braeview Kelly.

She is three from three when second up so is a likely improver.

BEST BETS:

Menangle Saturday Race 2 #2 Sicario @ $3.20 – All off his recent form is at Group level including a Bendigo Cup second. Very well placed and nicely drawn.

Melton Saturday Race 2 #7 Farady Hanover @ $4.20 – Unbeaten at this distance and is proven fresh so should be ready two fire off two solid trials.
