Australian Harness Racing Preview – 29th April 2023

Youngsters from four states create some intriguing clashes in the two-year-old editions of APG Gold Bullion Finals at Menangle on Saturday night.

Qualifiers from heats in Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia will take on their New South Wales counterparts in the colts/geldings and fillies finals, each worth $400,000.

In the juvenile boys' race Stormryder from the powerhouse Emma Stewart/ Clayton Tonkin yard has made an impressive start to his career with two big wins in Victoria.

He spanked his rivals by 35m on debut then led from this same draw and was far too speedy in his heat at Melton. He is on the up and looks very hard to stop.

Ten To The Dozen comes across from WA in fine form having put four wins together.

He led from a similar draw last start at Gloucester Park and was too speedy in a 4.4m win.

He should push forward again so can give a sight.

Soho Spectre has tasted defeat just once in five starts and that was when fourth in the G1 Gold Crown Final from a tough barrier.

The luck of the draw has again gone against him but he must be respected off his last-start heat win here.

War Dan Buddy has been improving with racing and was an easy winner of his heat at Melton last start.

He is another from Team Stewart/Tonkin who must be included.

In the fillies' race Eye Believe is a talented youngster who delivered with a 4m win in her heat at Melton when she led and kept going strongly.

She had put the writing on the wall before that when she came from wider than this to finish runner up in the G1 Gold Tiara at Bathurst at just her second start. She can go on with it.

Xceptional Arma crosses from WA with strong form having yet to miss the top two. She led from a similar barrier when winning at Gloucester Park by 6.5m last time out.

The good draw gives her every chance to measure up.

More Sass has been the standout filly so far in Queensland where she is unbeaten in her three Albion Park starts.

She draws a bit wide but has led in every outing so has the speed to get across.

Eureka Jo is open to improvement after chasing Eye Believe on debut.

She cops a tough draw but hails from a champion juvenile stable.

Sweetheart Bart and Jewel Melody are drawn to win the two divisions of the three-year-old finals while My Ultimate Ronnie and Madrid looks the standout in the four-year-old races.
