Rockokoko adds to Tomlinson’s Queensland Armoury

Talented three-year-old Rockokoko is set to give WA owner Rob Tomlinson further representation in the upcoming Queensland winter carnival.

Tomlinson, who already has Magnificent Storm aimed at Queensland features, confirmed Rockokoko too would get his chance to travel.

Rockokoko, now under the care of Belinda and Luke McCarthy, scored a comfortable 3.5m win at Menangle on Tuesday to take his record in New South Wales to two wins and two placings from five starts.

Tomlinson, who purchased half of the colt from Bryan Cousins prior to joining the McCarthy stable, said he was excited to see Rockokoko head to Queensland.

"I'm very happy with happy with him," Tomlinson told The Trots WA.

"I was keen to buy the whole lot of him, but I'm happy to get half of him.

"I spoke to Luke after the run, and he said he wasn't at 100 per cent yet.

"He will have a couple more runs before he goes up to Queensland."

The son of American Ideal will be aimed at the $150,000 Queensland Derby (2680m) at Albion Park on July 22.

He could also be targeted at the $350,000 Rising Sun (2138m) at the same track on July 8.

Meanwhile, Magnificent Storm will continue his build up to Queensland in tomorrow night's Go First Class With Ramsays Transport Pace (1730m) at Gloucester Park.

The gelding, a $1.09 TABtouch favourite, will start from barrier six in the small field of seven.

Tomlinson said he would finalise Magnificent Storm's Queensland campaign in the coming days.

"He will take benefit from the run tomorrow night," he said.

"We will work out whether he has one more run after tomorrow night, or if he goes for a short break.

"There are three races for him in Queensland and we will also have to work out if we give him one run here before he goes."

Tomlinson will have representation in both $50,000 features at Gloucester Park tomorrow night.

Sovrana, already a Group 2 winner, heads into the WASBA-Breeders Stakes (2130m) second-up and clashes with some of the state's best mares.

The Aiden De Campo-trained pacer has drawn barrier six, with fellow four-year-olds and fancied runners Taking The Miki and Wonderful To Fly have drawn barrier one and seven respectively.

Tomlinson said the mare could score another feature win tomorrow night.

"It's a bit of a sticky draw for her," he said.

"She's going well, and we've taken the head check off her for tomorrow night.

"We've got options at the start and she has got gate speed.

"Aiden might not want to use that tomorrow night though because she's only second-up."

Tomlinson has Ezana and Stamford engaged in the Larkhill Vets 4YO&5YO Championship (2130m).
