Race 1: Fukushima Handicap (1st Section)

#6 Flying On The Turf did everything right first-up and he looks well placed to take another step forward here. He's winless, however, his latest trial impressed. #11 Raging Blaze slots in light and has been knocking on the door for a while now. He can figure again. Each way play. #5 Hearty Wish should improve further again. The wide draw makes things tricky but he is capable and pairs favourably with Lyle Hewitson. #3 Happily Friends draws ideally. He can make his presence felt.

Race 2: Fukushima Handicap (2nd Section)

#6 Fortune Hero should find the front and lead this group. He won well last start and is expected to be in a similar position again, if not the same. He does his best racing out in front and another win wouldn't surprise. #4 Encore is racing well and progressing nicely. He can take another step forward and is worth an each way play. #11 Little Player is progressing. He can be a touch slow of the gates but if he finds a good position here then he should get his opportunity. #1 Jazz Steed knows the course. He's in solid form.

Race 3: Nakayama Handicap (2nd Section)

#1 Flaming Passion makes a favourable return to Class 4 and Happy Valley. He's a two-time winner in this grade and at the city circuit which holds him in good stead. He's the one to beat. #4 Hero Star will likely find the front and try to pinch this one. Expect he makes his own luck and from there is tough to get past. #2 Above All can atone for a luckless last outing. He's better than that after being pushed very wide on the turn for home. #3 Leslie has claims. He is better than his recent form suggests.

Race 4: Chukyo Handicap

#9 Chater Pins is still winless. He does everything right in races except win and his three outings so far this campaign have been solid. He'll be coming home late and interestingly some his best efforts have come under Matthew Chadwick who hops up here. #8 Red Impact is closing in on another win. He's a solid operator who can improve again. #6 Wonder Years is consistent and steps away favourably from gate four. He's in the mix. #12 Perfect To Great slots in light and gets his opportunity.

Race 5: Nakayama Handicap (2nd Section)

#7 Hardly Swears is doing everything right this season except winning. Still, he's in great form and he gets an excellent chance to reward his patient owners here. Pierre Ng is flying through his first season as a trainer and his good fortune can continue with this guy. #5 Savvy Chic was without luck first-up down the straight at Sha Tin. He has plenty more to give and should showcase it here. #1 H Z Tourbillon is closing in on another win. He will get his chance. #8 Nordic Combined is next in line.

Race 6: The Japan Racing Association Trophy Handicap (2nd Section)

#5 California Concord travelled wide and without cover last start. That effort was a total forgive run and he should atone for that effort here, especially from gate one with Angus Chung's 10lb apprentice claim in use. Expect he finds the front to lead. #2 Adios is lightly raced but crafting an impressive record. He was a strong winner last start and his ascent should persist here. #3 Gallant Waking is classy, however, there are few others fancied with preferred conditions. #6 Decisive Twelve is next best. Keep safe.

Race 7: Kyoto Handicap (1st Section)

#6 Happy Sharing won well two starts ago. He likes to race on the speed but chances are with the good gate he finds a solo lead. He gets every chance here to rack up another win for the in-form Pierre Ng. #4 Excellent Peers is consistent and has done well already with three wins under his belt. The draw will afford him his opportunity for back-to-back wins. #1 Beauty Glory gets a handy 10lb taken off. He won well first-up this season and is right in the mix here. #2 Atullibigeal should launch late. He can find a placing.

Race 8: Tokyo Handicap

#8 Packing Award is a seriously talented horse who can return with a win this week. He's trialled well in the lead-up to his first-up assignment and barrier four should ensure he gets a sweet run throughout. #2 The Irishman really turned it around last start for a tidy effort in this grade at Sha Tin. The step in distance is suitable and it wouldn't surprise to see these two fill a one-two finish for owner Edmond Lee. #5 Everyone's Delight can lead and make his own luck. #7 Fa Fa has claims at his preferred course. Next best.

Race 9: Hanshin Handicap

#6 Never Too Soon raced without luck in the concluding stages of his latest effort. Expect he can atone for that effort here, especially from gate two which will ensure he gets the run of the race. #7 Rising From Ashes soared home last start for second. He's on an upward trajectory and his ascent can continue here. #5 Comet Splendido is chasing back-to-back wins. Expect he's got a number of rating points in hand. #8 Delightful Laos will sit back and run on for a strong finish. He's trialled very well. Keep safe.
