JRA Best Bets - Sunday, 19th March 2023

Assuming the JRA stave off strike action there is some superb racing across the three venues on Sunday including two races at Grade 2 level.

At Hanshin is the Daishoten - a turf race over 3000m and includes last years winner Deep Bond. We're keen on the very talented Boldog Hos in that race though who resumes as one of our best for the day.
Meanwhile at Nakayama, the feature is the Fuji TV Sho Spring Stakes for the colts and a race that boasts a host of promising types climbing the ladder.

Our Best Bets for Sunday

Hanshin Race 9 - #4 Danon Timpani

Lightly-raced five-year-old beaten just once. Scored at his first four runs then faced his toughest test here last time over a mile and was beaten a nose, finishing second before heading out for a break. The entire is unbeaten from three runs fresh and unbeaten from three tries at the trip.

This is another step up but has improved his ratings at each and every start so far and has good upside to come. He looks ideally placed to go close when resuming today off the low draw.

Bellwood Bravo has been ticking along without a win for a win and looks a serious threat. His best figures stack right up to this level and he has drawn to stalk the pace and come with a big finish.

Hanshin Race 11 - #1 Boldog Hos

Very talented four-year-old resuming. While yet to win at this level, the four-year-old has placed at both his tries and has also placed 2/2 at the top level. The first of those was this distance in the Grade 1 Kikuka Sho when beaten a nose two starts back, before resuming for his one and only start last campaign, finishing second in the Grade 1 Arima Kinen.

Today he presents in easier grade and with a strong fresh-up record looks tough to get past.

Justin Palace also resumes and looks a big danger. He also raced in the same event as Boldog Hos before a break and was well off his best. He is far better than that and has leading rider Christophe Lemaire engaged. He can run a huge race fresh.Last years winner of this race, Deep Bond, has to beincluded.

Hanshin Dirt Race 10 - #11 Ihtifaal

Promising type resuming. After missing the placings on debut the entire got off the mark here with his maiden win, then placed three on end when running on hard at each.
He continues to improve his figures through and finished off his first campaign with two strong wins, the latest scoring with ease here at the same journey. Leading riderChristophe Lemairehas been booked for the ride and over his favourite course and distance the entire look tough to stop.

Leonore also went to the paddock a winner and looks poised to return to form today. She has placed at both starts this campaign in similar grade and looks hard to hold out off a low draw.

Nakayama Dirt Race 4 - #11 Never Let You Go

Improving colt overdue for a win. Fitter for three runs from a spell, finishing runner-up at his last two when finding the line strongly. The latest was here over the same journey when buried in the ruck early before lifting strongly late and getting into second place. He meets a similar race this time and will be at his top after the three runs back. Should be tough to hold off late.

Ma Volonte led throughout over this journey last time to find winning form and will give a sight again. That was the filly's first try at 1200m and she won by a space. Although drawn out today she will take running down again and looks a big danger.
