Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1000M) Allowance / KRW 60 Million

Picture: Korea Racing Authority

Maiden juvenile fillies with nine of the twelve racing for the first time. Two of the experienced ones will be at the top of the market though. Despite his wide draw, (11) CUPID CHAMP gets the nod based on her runner-up finish on debut on September 3rd when she settled handy, dropped back to midfield, and then motored home in a super final furlong time. A similar performance here and she will win. (3) MENI POCKET was sent off as favourite on debut having won a trial. She was on pace throughout, ultimately finishing 3rd, and she is the main danger to the favourite. Among the first timers, (4) RED TAEPUNG and (7) GLORY K look the most likely to make an impact first-up. Both finished 2nd in their respective trials in good times and if they bring that form to the races are at least placing chances. (12) RAON CITY GIRL the next best.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

It's fair to say that (8) TANGJA has mixed his form across his four outings to date, but he wasn't that far off the pace when 7th of twelve last time out. Prior to that race he had registered a 2nd and a 3rd and has posted the fastest time among these for the distance. There isn't much early speed here so he can get forward and he can win. (2) P N S SING too wasn't as far away as her 5th place last time out on September 3rd suggests. She also has a runner-up finish on her record already and from a good draw should be challenging Tangja for the lead and can be in this a long way. (5) NOW NURI beat P N S Sing when 2nd in that September 3rd race over this distance. That continued a steady trajectory of progress and while she is yet to run a quick time, with more improvement here she can be a danger again. (9) BURUI SINHWA and (4) NAOL SESANG, the latter racing for the first time since March and who looked much better than before in a trial last month, are others in the frame.

Selections (8) Tangja (2) P N S Sing (5) Now Nuri (9) Burui Sinhwa

Seoul Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Allowance / KRW 25 Million

It's hard to look too far past (7) MORNING FIVE here, who comes out top on just about every indicator. He has the fastest time for the distance, one of the fastest opening furlong average times and the fastest final furlong average time. He was 4th at this distance in July on his return from four months out and then ran 2nd over 1200M in August. Third-up this preparation he can be peaking and can win here. (8) CLAIR POWER will be second choice on most tickets. He has been consistent if unspectacular across five starts so far and his usual racing pattern of sitting handy and then running on, should see him into a place here. (1) NEW CHEONGPA didn't show much in four starts prior to six months out. He returns here but ran very well in a late July trial, stopping the clock in a fast time. He can be a different prospect this time around. (6) BADAUI KKUM and (9) BEST PLAN among others with minor money claims.

Selections (7) Morning Five (8) Clair Power (1) New Cheongpa (6) Badaui Kkum

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 40 Million

The only juvenile in the field with most who have shown promise tackling tomorrow's Munhwa Ilbo Trophy, (12) RAON THE HIGHMAN has finished 2nd in both starts to date, both at 1000M. He comes up in class and in distance here but is nicely weighted and while he may need a touch of luck at the start, he can overcome the widest draw to get the breakthrough here. (3) AMAZON KING shapes as the main danger. He too got promoted to this class because of two runner-up finishes but he claimed his maiden win at his latest start over class and distance on September 4th, when settling midfield and running on well. He comes up 4kg in the weights but that's balanced a little by a much better draw and he can be competitive here. Well weighted is the up in class (8) GOLD POWER, repeating the pattern of those promoted but winless. He has been an on-pace runner-up in his latest two and is another who can measure up in this company. (2) GLOBAL CASTLE, another up in class, and (9) HWIPARAM, experienced at this level, are also in the hunt.

Selections (12) Raon The Highman (3) Amazon King (8) Gold Power (2) Global Castle

Seoul Race 5: Class 5 (1700M) Allowance / KRW 40 Million

One of the more open races on the card. We'll take a chance on (4) BYEORAK, who has shown ability at this distance before and come back up in trip following recent work over shorter. He draws well here to get his favoured on-pace position, and he has as good a chance as any. (12) BODY STAR was a class and distance winner two starts back and while he couldn't follow up when 6th of twelve on his reappearance on August 27th, he can be given another chance here. His running style means the wide gate shouldn't be an issue and he can be running on strongly. (2) GEUMSEONG HWANHUI ran 2nd in that August 27th race having been on pace throughout. He only comes up 1kg for it and draws very nicely to get forward again. (6) ONE PUTT was a somewhat unexpected class and distance winner on August 14th. He comes up 2kg but seems to have eliminated his habit of blowing the start and will warrant more respect this time. (10) REAL PACK another in the placing frame.

Selections (4) Byeorak (12) Body Star (2) Geomseong Hwanhui (6) One Putt

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(2) JILJU BORN was a class and distance winner three starts back and with an apprentice jockey claiming 4kg today, comes back to a similar weight as he carried that day. He's run well in the two starts since, under more weight and finishing 2nd and 4th in decent times but the claim, as well as the great draw, make him the one to beat here. (1) GLOBAL BOBAE comes up in class having won back-to-back races over this distance at class 5 level. He comes down in the weights too and while he's not the type that needs to be lead the inside gate certainly won't hinder him either. (11) THE REAPER is also up in class having got his maiden score at the thirteenth time of asking over 1400M on August 28th. He too is down in weight, the wide draw shouldn't trouble him, and he can measure up. (3) EUNSEONG MARU can have a line drawn through her latest in a tough trophy race on International Day and be given another chance here. (8) SAENAE POWERFUL another in the frame.

Selections (2) Jilju Born (1) Global Bobae (11) The Reaper (3) Eunseong Maru

Seoul Race 7: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

Fillies (and one mare) only here. (9) DAPHNE comes in seeking a hat-trick of victories and despite being up in class, she may well do it. Both those wins have been at this distance, and she overcame a wider draw last time. She will need to improve again but should go very close. (3) MJ POINT is yet to win in eighteen starts but has no fewer than thirteen top-five finishes to her name. She should be on pace here from a good draw and can be in this a long way. (2) SILVER STAR comes up in class having come from way off the pace to win over 1300M on August 21st. She has won at this trip before and is very lightly weighted under a good apprentice. (1) JEONGSANG Z and (6) WORLD FORCE among plenty of others with solid placing chances.

Seoul Race 8: Class 3 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 75 Million

A case can be made for plenty of these. (8) ASPEN TAEYANG was one of the most highly thought-of three-year-olds at the start of the season but hasn't run since finishing 3rd in the Sports Seoul Classic Trial over this distance in March. He trialed up in June and again at the beginning of this month, when he was especially fast, and if he can bring something like his best today, he can win here. He'll need the race though. (4) POWER BOX was an all the way winner over this distance at class 4 level two starts back and comes in having run a close 5th at this class on August 21st having again led. Under today's handicap conditions, he comes down 2.5kg, draws well, and should get closer. (7) VICS GO comes up in class having won over 1300M on August 28th. He has shown ability at today's distance too and should measure up at this level. (5) A TO Z beat Power Box when 3rd in that August 21st race at class and distance. His recent form is consistent, and he should be there or thereabouts again. (2) CHOEGO RACE, another who is rarely far away.

Selections (8) Aspen Taeyang (4) Power Box (7) Vics Go (5) A To Z

Seoul Race 9: Class 3 (1800M) Allowance / KRW 75 Million

A runaway winner over 1700M at class 4 level on August 21st, (1) CHEONMA BISANG comes up in class and marginally in distance here but still looks the one to beat. Although she has only won two from twelve, she has been ultra-consistent with five runner-up finishes and she is very nicely weighted and drawn here. She can lead from gate to wire. (8) ACHIM HAMSEONG is another very consistent type if another who rarely wins. She is up in class here following a few too many near-misses but she comes down considerably in the weights and the last time she carried this little, she won. (3) DREAM FASHION has a 2nd and a 5th in two races at this class, both over 1800M and beating a few of today's rivals along the way. She is well drawn here and can be a danger. (2) CHOEGANG PARTY for the Riccardi stable and (6) LAPIEO BAN are among others who can enter the calculations.

Selections (1) Cheonma Bisang (8) Achim Hamseong (3) Dream Fashion (2) Choegang Party

Seoul Race 10: Class 2 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 90 Million

Having raced best when on pace, (10) COBRA BALL had to settle at the back last time out on July 30th over his usual 1200M before running on very well for 3rd place. He is stepped up to 1400M for the first time and it may just be what he is ready for at this stage of his career. This is a really competitive race though. (1) RAON PINK finally returns to action after six months out. She was one of the nation's top fillies and while she didn't offer too many clues in a trial at the start of September, she is a real talent and warrants respect first up. (11) MIGHTY NEW was a class and distance winner two starts back before running 4th over a mile at the end of August. He carries his fair share of weight here but is not to be dismissed. (7) LUISA and (12) JANGSAN MISSILE among plenty of others with at least placing claims.
