Godolphin again dominate carnival action at Meydan Racecourse

Friday’s main race of seven at the UAE’s iconic Meydan Racecourse was on turf for the 1600m Group 2 Zabeel Mile, in which class prevailed, Godolphin’s Master Of The Seas proving himself by far the best horse in the race.

The now 5yo gelded son of Dubawi was confidently ridden by William Buick for Charlie Appleby.

Buick said: "He has always been a very smart horse and, hopefully he can build on this through Super Saturday and then Dubai World Cup night."

Godolphin were celebrating a double after the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Global Heat landed the 2810m Listed Al Khail Trophy. Pat Cosgrave in the saddle.

It was a Godolphin treble, and a Bin Suroor double after Shining Blue and Danny Tudhope took the concluding 1400m turf handicap.

The first Classic of the season, the 1600m Listed UAE 1000 Guinea was totally dominated by Mimi Kakushi, completing doubles or trainer Salem bin Gdadayer and jockey Mickael Barzalana.

The only Purebred Arabian race on the card, on dirt the opening 1200m Big Easy Championship, a conditions race went to Leena, probably never headed under Bernardo[ Pinheiro for Al Wathhba Racing and Al Wathba Racing.

The first Thoroughbred race, a 1200m dirt handicap, went to Rawy, positively ridden by Mickael Barzalona for RRR racing and Bhupat Seemar.

The following 1000m turf handicap was landed in taking fashion by Thunder Of Niagra, Ray Dawson in the saddle fot Ahmad bin Harmash.
