Irish 2000 Guineas 2023

The Royal Scotsman has been supplemented for this and comes with whistles blaring.

His sire Gleneagles won this race and he was third in the English equivalent.  While connections are making excuses for that run we are not that keen on the 2/1 on offer.

We prefer to put our hard-earned on Paddington, a Siyouni colt with Aidan O'Brien who will have Ryan Moore on board.  This will be his first test on good ground but so far he has answered every question put to him.

We have a roughie here in the very lightly raced Quar Sherma from Jessisca Harrington's yard.  He's been entered in various trials but they have waited for good ground as he doesn't like the soft.  He's by Shamardal and Shane Foley who has won this race before will be in charge.  He's around 30s so will have a very small bit of e/w on him.

Earlier there's the Marble Hill Stakes a G3 for 2yo over 1200m with a disappointingly small field of 6.  Noche Magica is all the rage after impressing at Cork and is on 6/4.  We think. The O'Brien duo of No Nay Never colts Democracy 5/2 and His Majesty 9/2 are worth or consideration.  As usual in Ireland watch the betting if you can.

The Greenlands is G2 over 1200m and at least has 8 runners.  Art Power is on 2/1 with Oisin Murphy riding for Tim Easterby.  Coachella should enjoy this and is on 8/1 for Gordon Elliott with Jamie Spencer riding and the Charlie Hills trained Garrus looks like a good horse with Ryan Moore booked for the ride and they also are on 2/1.
