Paddington wins Irish 2000 Guineas

With a great ride from Ryan Moore, Paddington could be headed to Ascot.

And that would be for the St James's Palace Stakes according to trainer Aidan O'Brien, who also saddled the second home – Cairo 14/1 and Hi Royal repeating his third place in the UK 2000 Guineas.

Hot favourite Royal Scotsman was never a factor – maybe he didn't travel all that well.  And our roughie Quar Sharma wasn't the worst coming 6th.

His stablemate with Shane Foley again on board won earlier in the Marble Hill – that horse being Givemethebeatboys by Bungle in the Jungle defeated favourite Noche Magica and His Majesty.

The Greenlands was a romp in the park for Art Power as he won effortlessly – or seemingly so- with 4 ½ lengths back to Big Gossey 25/1 and Ano Syra 14/1 and joint favourite with the winner Garrus in fourth place.

At Haydock The Platinum Queen didn't fire and just as well platinum doesn't tarnish with the win going to Dramatised 4/1 Burke-Buick from our roughie Equilateral 20/1 and Live in the Dream third on 7/1

Earlier we had seen a great ride from Hollie Doyle on Solent Gateway to lead and judge the ride perfectly on Solent Gateway in the 3200m handicap.

Then we had the return of Little Big Bear, now dedicated to sprint races to win the G2 Sandy Lane (named for a famous Barbados watering hole) by 1 ¼ from Shouldvebeenaring 11/1 and then 8 lengths back to Bradsell 5/1 – and that's in a 1200m race.  Frankie Dettori was the winning jockey on the Aidan O'Brien trained winner.
