His loss to the Japanese breeding scene was underlined even further when two of hisi 3yo fillies ran 1st and 3rd in the Yushun Himba G1 (Japanese Oaks), namely Liberty Island and Dura.

A couple of injuries punctuated his career which otherwise may have been even more illustrious than one that includes two Triple Crown titles and a second in the Dubai Sheema.

His pedigree was excellent – by King Kamehameha out of Admire Groove, a daughter of Sunday Silence and Horse-of-the-Year Air Groove (x Arc winner Tony Bin).

He has managed to pass on his illustrious progeny and in his first season he sired 35 winners including Titleholder and was first in the table for first season sires. His progeny made over 400 Million yen.

Other successful progeny include Stars on Earth, Dura Erede, recent Victoria Mile winner Champagne Colour and now the fillies Liberty Island and Dura.  Liberty Island alone has now won 429,472,100 Yen in her 5 starts to date.

Shadai and indeed Japan must now be even more distressed at the loss of Duramente and his untimely end.  We must be grateful that he was able to leave such wonderful children.
