January Cup at Happy Valley

Wednesday's Happy Valley card has a G3 race as the feature.

It's Race 7, the January Cup over 1800m with an interesting field.

Perhaps the most interesting is Glorious Dragon, who is having his first start in 400 days.

He's now with Pierre Ng who has been pleased with the 8yo's progress and has given him three trials is preparation for his return to the track.  However we feel that he will need this run and hope he runs a place but are not betting the mortgage on it.

Money Catcher has caught a lot of our cash and returned not a great deal so we are now hoping that this year he will be paying out.  He's placed at G1 and won at G3 so we are hopeful although 3.4 means it will take a while for his payment plan to be realised.  John Size has Silvestre de Souza tasked with helping this materialise.

Berlin Tango has the making of a very nice horse and has been working well and comes in to this on 7.6 with Karis Teetan riding for Tony Cruz.

We have gone wide for the other tips – the above-mentioned Glorious Dragon on 16.0 and Butterfield on 20.0 for Shum-Hewitson – we think this trip will suit the Brazilian-bred and being Happy Valley anything can happen!
