Other awardees were 2yo male Forte, 2yo female Wonder Wheel; 3yo female Nest, 3yoc Epicentre; female turf Regal Glory, male turf Modern Games (all 3 nominees were Godolphin-Appleby pupils); female sprinter Goodnight Olive and male sprinter Elite Power.

Godolphin got the gongs for both owner and breeder, the jockey went to Irad Ortiz and apprentice jockey to Jose Antonio Gomez, with the trainer being Todd Pletcher.

So down to business and the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park – that is for three races starting with the f&m turf over 1700m with 8 runners.  The short priced favourite is Shantisara on 9/4 for Chad Brown and Irad Ortiz, with Dalika on 5/2 for A.M. Stall and Brian Hernandez and 9/2 for Queen Goddess McCarthy-Saez.

The 1800m turf does have one female taking on the boys – she's Lady Speightspeare owned by our mate Charles Fipke and trained by Canadian Roger Attfield with Luis Saez riding and a quote of 6/1.  Favourite is the Brazilian-bred Ivar for Paolo Lobo with Javier Castellano booked for the ride – they are on 5/2.  City Man is 4/1 for Christophe Clement and Joel Rosario, and Wit is not out of the picture either – on 8/1 for Pletcher- JL Ortiz.

The big one (US$3 million) has Cyberknife on 5/2 for Brad Cox and Florent Geroux. Proxy on 9/2 for Stidham – Rosario, and two in the care of Saffie Joseph Skippylongstocking 5/1 with JL Ortiz to ride and the Chilean champ O'Connor on 10/1 with Javier Castellano on board.

The rest of the 12 horse field is quite competitive so over 1800m there could be a surprise result!

Earlier on the card is the Gr 2 Inside Information over 1400m for f&m with a field of 10.  Bill Mott's Obligatory is on 7/5 with JL Ortiz riding, and there are two on 5/1 – Famed (cox-Geroux) and Maryquitecontrary Calanese-Panici.
