Big racing on both coasts

With extreme weather events causing havoc all over the US there's racing this weekend at Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita.

Gulfstream Park is coping with a heatwave and Santa Anita has been dodging snowflakes so we hope both tracks will be OK.

The Florida track hosts as number of graded stakes but we shall just concentrate on the Gr2 races the feature of these being the Fountain of Youth for the 3yo boys and the Davona Dale for the girls.

The Gulfstream Park Mile is the first on our list and here Charge It is odds-on for Pletcher – Saez.  Endorsed is the only one seriously considered as a challenger at 4/1 Maker-Gaffalone.

The Davovna Dale is over 1600m and Red Carpet Ready tops the call at 2/1 Arnold-Saez followed by Undervalued Asset 3/1 Brown – I Ortiz and Leave No Trace 5/1.

The MacDiarmida is over 2200m on the turf and has a full entry + 1.  Astronaut is on 5/2 for Albertrani-Saez, Highest Honors 3/1 Brown – I Ortiz and on 5/1 the Chilean bred Master Piece for S Joseph – Gaffalone.

The Fountain of Youth sees the return to the track of Forte, the 2yo Male horse of the year for 2022 and obviously heading towards the Florida Derby.  Pletcher is the trainer and I Ortiz the jockey and 7/5 the quote.  Blazing Sevens won the Champagne Stakes Gr 1 and is on 7/2 Brown – Rosario, and the Swale winner General Jim is on 6/1.

Santa Anita hosts the Frank E Kilroe Mile Gr 1 on the turf and 9 to line up.  Hong Kong Harry is on 9/5, Air Force Red 4/1 and Balnikhov 5/1.

The Santa Anita Handicap or Big 'Cap is over 2000m and the Baffert pupil Defunded is looking to correct that situation and is on 7/2.  Warrant and Proxy are on 4/1 and Stilleto Boy 5/1.
