Thorough Care SA to offer Poles Clinic with Lucy Williams

Thorough Care SA are giving an opportunity for 15 riders to participate in a Lucy Williams Poles Clinic.

Poles clinics are perfect for educating less experienced horses and riders, can improve a horse's athleticism and assist in rehab as well as educating young horses, jumping preparation and overall confidence.

Based at Equerry Lodge in Wistow, Williams is widely respected in equestrian circles having trained with many coaches at prestigious equestrian centres throughout the UK.

She also coached Christopher Bartle FBHS (the former trainer for the German National Eventing Team and current coach of the British Eventing Team) at Yorkshire Riding Centre as well as Olympian Jane Bartle-Wilson.

Thorough Care SA Equine Welfare Officer John Cornell said it was another pathway for retired racehorses to develop new skills and transition to life after racing.

"Giving opportunities for riders and their thoroughbreds to participate in clinics like this is something Thorough Care SA continue to explore,'' Cornell said.

"Thoroughbreds can be great breeds for a variety of disciplines outside of racing,'' he said.

The 15 riders and their horses will take part in one of three clinics with five riders per session.
