The dual licenced horseman has engaged Jake Toeroek to ride the five-year-old who still has some improvement in her both mentally and physically.

"We're still learning a bit about her,'' Cahill said.

"I do like her, I'd like her to be more laid back and hopefully our environment will help improve that.

"She can be quite aggressive in her mannerisms so that's why I elected to put Jake on, he's a strong rider.

"Her work has been good, but there is improvement in her coat,'' he said.

The Gov arrived in Australia earlier in the year and was set to debut before a minor setback which prompted Cahill to give her a break.

"She was ready to go I took her blood a couple of days before and she had a virus,'' Cahill said.

"We gave her six weeks in the paddock to get over that, plus I wasn't keen to run on the really wet tracks, in saying that I didn't think they'd still be wet like they are now in the spring,'' he said.

Cahill said the 1000m around the Parks was the ideal kick off and is hoping in time she can be a horse he can take over the border.

"Hopefully they'll run along, she'll do the right thing, relax and find the line,'' Cahill said.

"She might be horse who could go to Moonee Valley for a 955m race,'' he said.
