Ellis Wong and Lachlan Neindorf both walked away with a riding double while Sophie Logan and Jacob Opperman were also successful.

Wong got things rolling winning early aboard Trumpsta for the Phillip Stokes stable, his double coming when stablemate Neodium proved too smart with the blinkers on late in the day.

"Back on top of the ground, low class with the claim, he just did enough,'' assistant trainer Tommy Stokes said.

"We know he's honest. We've kept him nice and fresh, and we were confident going in,'' he said.

Neindorf scored aboard Hallstatt for bosses Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle before Hankstar scored an emotional win for connections with his return to wining form.

Sophie Logan partnered Fields Of Athenry to victory while Jacob Opperman is back home in SA and combined with legendary Mount Gambier horseman Michael O'Leary to win the last race of the day with Scenic Host.

Reigning John Letts Medallist Barend Vorster continued his strong start to the season with a double while Jason Benbow continues to ride winners in SA claiming the opening race aboard Merchant Boss for Travis Doudle.

Merchant Boss capped a big two days for Doudle after Not Usual Glorious won Friday's Benalla Cup and Doudle is hoping Merchant Boss could be a promising stayer in the making.

"I'll give him one more start, we'll have a go at the (Listed) Hill Smith Stakes,'' Doudle said.

"He'll then go to the paddock and have a go at the Derby next year,'' he said.

THE good weekend for the young riders continued at Naracoorte on Sunday with Ben Price riding a double and Ellis Wong adding another winner to his weekend's tally aboard Triangulum for Brett Campbell.

Price sharing riding honours alongside Victorian duo Dean Yendall and Harry Grace.
