In Brief

  • McCoull says he is fit enough for his return to race riding on Wednesday night.
  • Champion jockey analyses the chances of his three rides in Launceston under lights.
  • McCoull heaps praise on Supalopo and Bello Beau after impressive trial wins at Longford on Tuesday.

McCoull had put up with the worn knee joints for a year and when the surgeon operated, he found the damage worse than first thought which subsequently delayed the rider's return to race riding.

But after riding in three sets of trials and doing trackwork riding for a month he will jump back in the saddle at the first night meeting of the season in Launceston.

McCoull has two rides for trainer Adam Trinder, Needs Toasting and Michbar, and he has one for his life partner and trainer Imogen Miller in Fighting Floyd.

Trinder's two are Needs Toasting in the Show Day Thursday 0-62 Handicap over 1400m (race four) in which he is the $2.90 favourite and Michbar, the top weight in the Book for your Christmas Function BM68 (1100m) and he too is the early favourite at $3.30.

His last ride on the card is Fighting Floyd in the Jackson Security Handicap BM62 over 1200m (race seven) in which he too is favourite at $4.

Listen to what Brendon Mccoull had to say about his return to race riding and the chances of his three mounts on Wednesday night as well as how two of Trinder's star performers Bello Beau and Supalopo performed in trials at Longford on Tuesday.
