Reid chases country cup double

One cup won, another one to come.

That's the ambitious aim of trainer Raquel Reid, but she's up for the challenge.

Reid can end her weekend on a big high when she saddles up Eeyore Wayz in the XXXX Northam Cup (1600m) this afternoon.

The six-year-old must overcome a distance test, but has come in for solid support, firming to $9 from $14 in Tabtouch betting.

Reid will chase her second Country Cup in 24 hours after Juicing Carrots demolished his rivals in the Collie Cup (1990m) by a whopping margin.

Carrying the 62kg topweight, Juicing Carrots, with Alan Kennedy in the saddle, made it a one act affair to lead and win by 18 lengths.

"I didn't think he would win by that much, so he handled the dirt well," Reid said.

"Alan Kennedy gave him a great ride."

Reid is confident she can experience another thrill, this time with Eeyore Wayz  in the Northam Cup,

The son of My Admiration has been around the mark this preparation, winning once and finishing top four in eight of 10 starts since May.

He added back-type to his resume when a close third to in-form gelding Resortman in the Listed Farnley Stakes (1400m) three starts back in September.

Resortman is low flying for trainer Michael Lane and last start took out the Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes (1400m), his fourth feature success in a hot winter and spring campaign.

Eeyore Wayz has seven wins from 35 starts and is out to record his first victory beyond 1300 metres.

He's had two attempts over the mile, finishing fourth on both occasions to Dom To Shoot in February and Benji's two runs earlier at Ascot.

"I don't think the distance is going to worry him," Reid said.

"I'm actually thinking a little bit later putting him over 1800 metres.

"I will see what happens because you can always drop back.

"On Sunday we have the perfect barrier, we have an ideal weight and just with the longer straight at Northam, which will benefit him as well.

"He likes the long straight at Belmont and I'm hoping it works in my favour.

"I honestly believe he can upset everyone, I'm quite confident he can win."

Eeyore Wayz is on the 54kg minimum, 3kg less following his second to Em Tee Aye previously.

He has drawn barrier three and will be ridden by regular rider, Craig Staples.

Staralign, unlucky in the Hannans in Kalgoorlie, holds market lead at $3.60, tightening from his opening quote of $5.

Marocchino is next at $5, Western Temple $7 and Come Right Back $7.50.
