At Ascot on Tuesday, Laced Up Heels is rated a $6.50 hope to knock off $1.60 favourite, Amelia's Jewel in the Tabtouch-Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m).

In her maiden campaign, Laced Up Heels has won twice from four races, including last start when she flashed late to gun down Lexington City over 1000m.

The victory followed hot on the heels of her unlucky sixth in the Crown Perth 3YO Classic (1000m) when she was held for running at the top of the straight.

Running on from the back of the field, she finished two lengths from the winner, Snowdome and ran 32.94sec. for the last 600m, the quickest of the race.

Laced Up Heels meets 10 rivals in the Listed Burgess Queen Stakes and from barrier seven she'll be in the hands of top jockey, Chris Parnham.

Fernie said he was hoping for an upset.

"I would like to hope so, you are always optimistic," Fernie told The Races WA.

"She is spot on and I'm really, really happy with her.

"Her work has been super and she is above average.

"If there is an issue with anyone else she will pouncing, that's for sure.

"Going from 1000m to 1400m is an ask, but I just think good horses can do it and she has shown me that she is a good horse."

Aside from Amelia's Jewel, Fernie says Vampi At Play, one of three entrants from Neville Parnham's stable, cannot be underestimated.

The Playing God filly has earned a cheque in every run she's contested and is currently the $5.50 second favourite behind Amelia's Jewel.

Her market support follows a close second to Real Grace when she was jumping out of the ground after getting clear running in the straight.

"Amelia's Jewel is very good, but so is Neville's (Vampi At Play)," Fernie said.

"I actually think she is equally hard to beat as Amelia's Jewel."

Meanwhile, Wild Belle, another of Fernie's exciting three-year-olds, is the raging $1.45 favourite to take out the $4 million Quokka Slot Race In April 2023 Handicap (1100m).

Wild Belle is coming off a brilliant maiden win at Northam when she led, dictated and controlled the 1000m race to win by a whopping 6 ¼ lengths.

"The wide barrier is something we have to contend with and it will be a good test to see how she handles it all," Fernie said.

"It's going to be a big crowd and everything like that, but with everything going to plan she should get the job done."

Wild Belle has drawn barrier eight and will be ridden by Chris Parnham.
