Doyle hoping to keep Bushy Series in the family

Jade Doyle will be hoping to extend her lead in the inaugural Bushy Trenowden Eyre Peninsula Apprentice Series at Ceduna on Saturday.

Jade Doyle is a great niece of the legendary local horseman who passed away in 2022 aged 77 after a decorated career which included more than 400 training victories and was a big advocate when it came to the next generation of riders.

Doyle had a double and two second placings at the opening Ceduna meeting of the season in December to lead the series on 10 points from Britney Wong and Maggie Collett who both collected four points.

"Jade has had an excellent season on the West Coast, especially considering that she's converting on horses that aren't necessary the top fancies in the market in a lot of races,'' Racing SA Apprentice Academy Master Briony Moore said.

Doyle will team with the Ryan Dawson-trained Showbag in the day's feature – the Ceduna Cup – with the combination coming off a soft 2.1 length win at Lock.

The Bushy Trenowden Eyre Peninsula Apprentice Series will move to the Lock Cup meeting on February 26 before heading to Penong, Streaky Bay and then the Port Lincoln and Kimba Cup meetings in March.
